I'm not a backpacker. This is a great small tent for car camping. Simple set up, a troop of 4th graders were able to do everything except get the flex pole on the second side, that took adult muscles. Fits 2 adults easily, or 1 adult and 1 baby crib if that's your style, I'd also do 1 adult and 2 small children. Very easy to vent for temperature regulation. I like that the window can be opened from both sides but also 'locked' with inner loops to keep it closed from the inside for privacy. Seems to be good quality to keep serving us into the future. Minor annoyance is the hanging gear pocket is so low it touches the floor of the tent.

Fantastic tent, kept us warm and dry during a particularly rainy and cold camping trip

I'd suggest something lighter if you're planning a long hike, but this tent is great for it's full screen open air. I've usually slept without a tent and just wrapped a tarp around me when rain comes, but last time I did that got some spider bits ( missouri ) so found this tent that's all screen and am loving it. I've only used twice so can't speak to durability but trusting coleman on that side of things. great tent.

This was my favorite tent for several years before a flash flood destroyed it. It held up in rain, snow, wind, and summer sun. It literally took a massive flash flood to break the pole and rip up one side. When I'm ready for a new tent instead of hammocks (the obvious switch for lightweight versatility), I will be looking for the hooligan 2.

We camp once a month, no matter what the temps. We have forty scouts that can set these up in almost total darkness! Very durable and have held up beyond scout proof!

I?ve had this tent for over 6 years now, lost count of the amount of times I?ve taken it out, but it?s still like brand new. It?s definitely not the lightest backpacking tent out there, but I doubt that you?ll find something better for the price (and it?s still easily managed w/ two people. With one pole, setup can take less than 2 minutes. I just got back from a trip where I had to set it up in a storm, and the weather was awful for 3 days, and the inside of the tent remained bone dry. The 6x8 footprint is great for taller hikers that may feel cramped in a 5x7. This was huge for me as I?m 6?5 and the selection for affordable tents even remotely suitable for backpacking is terrible. The vestibule is perfect for keeping your gear dry. For car campers, it?s the perfect size for a queen-size air mattresses w/ just enough room for your bags at the foot. This is my go-to tent. I always throw it in my car even if I plan on using a different tent, just in case we need a reliable backup.

Our Troop has been using the Hooligan 2 for several years now. We camp at least oncw a month, no matter what the weather. So these tents have been through everything and holds up great. We have 40 of these tents in our inventory. Tbis way old and new scouts all know how to put it up and take it down with ease. The rainfly covers well and keeps the wind out. The only issue we really have is the single pole sometimes breaks at the joint. This is a stress point i guess due to the bend. We have ten or so tents in our shed that need poles replaced but the rain fly holds up great.

I used this on a hiking trip and was very satisfied with the quality. It took me 5 minutes to set up. I’m sure it will last many trips. It’s light and doesn’t take much room.

I recently bought this tent to upgrade from a small A frame tent. I needed something for backpacking, that I could sit up in, and have a bit more room. Being 6’ 3”, this tent had the height I needed, and the room. Plus, the built in netting was the best thing. The mosquitoes were horrible when I set it up, but after spending the night, all of them were outside, leaving me bug free!! It’s a bit heavy for hiking, but I’m pretty much a pack mule, so it doesn’t bother me. Good pick up for me!!!

I'm a little confused that this is called a backpack tent seems awfully heavy for backpacking. But it is a very good tent for motorcycle or even a car. It's well made and easy up and down. The bike doesn't notice the few extra pounds.

Used for a quick get away to a local lake. Very impressed with ease of setting up and how much room this 2 person tent had! Easy to take down and pack up when leaving. Will not buy any other tent than the Hooligan from now on.

This was my third Coleman tent in about 25 years. They last me about 12 years and then they announce that it is time for a new one. This one is a nice dry basic tent. It goes up easily, stays dry easily as long as you do your part, it packs away easily and is not to heavy. I would not call it a back packing tent but a car camping tent instead. Yes, I would buy another one and I have encouraged two of my friends to buy to buy two of them. I also have a Coleman 3 season tent which I use in cool and colder weather when this one is not the correct tent to use.

I took one of these to Yosemite national park on a backpacking trip and I had the best experience, nothing beats the practicality y along with the lightweight, I had no issues fitting it on my 65L backpack along with everything I needed for the weekend, when it comes to quality and affordability this is the best choice for backpacking.

Very dry and sturdy in storms
By Old P.
Exceeded my expectations, even for Coleman products. I've used this tent three times now and it's the sturdiest, driest, and quietest tent in a 40 mph thunderstorm that I've ever used in 60 years of camping and backpacking. Highly recommended as a 1 person tent if you are over 6'2", as I am. But I did shelter a 12 year old grandson during one storm and it was okay.
Ready for any weather

I've had my Hooligan 2 for 8 years now. I camp out an average of 30 -40 nights a year. This tent just laughs at bad weather. I've been through some wild downpours and windy thunderstorms and have never had an issue. I came back to the site because I'm looking for a second one to replace my old leaky backup tent.
Coleman Hooligan 2 Tent
The Coleman Hooligan 2 Tent is a great way to spend a simple and enjoyable night in the woods. This 8 x 6 ft. ground area tent can accommodate up to two persons without any problem. Thanks to its snag-free pole sleeves, instruction manual, and one pole design, setting up this tent is really easy. The inner mesh keeps the insects away and makes the tent more airy. Plus, its WeatherTec system protects you from the harshest weathers and keeps you always dry. Store your things inside the tent in order, thanks to its inner pockets. Using the flashlight loop in the ceiling you can attach a flashlight to read a book or light-up the tent. This tent has a center height of 4 ft. 7 in., which offers ample of room to move about. So next time you go out on a camping trip, do not forget the Coleman Hooligan 2 Tent.
