Super Tent

After we survived torrential rains (with tornado warnings) in Florida campsite, I decided to write a review!!! We survived, we were in 4 inches of water with not a drop inside (not talking about condensation). Absolutely love spaciousness of the main area and convenience of "kitchen" area (that's what we use it for).

Roomy and nice.

After putting the tent up for the first time, a rain shower that lasted about 20min presented the perfect opportunity to check for any leaks. Unfortunately, a couple of leaks appeared around a couple of different seams next to a corner and a window. About 2 tablespoons of water got inside. Not wanting to deal with the hassle of boxing the tent up and returning it, I opted to try to seal the leaks with sealant product. Hopefully this will fix the one and only issue that I found. Time will tell. The tent, because of its size did take 2 people to assemble, but is not difficult. Plenty of room inside and the screened area is extra nice.

Great tent, broken light

Tent is great! Spacious and easy to set up. Unfortunately, the battery pack which is used to power the light inside the tent was broken and was unable to use on our first trip. Pretty frustrating.

Happy with my new Coleman Elite WeatherMaster® 6-P

very happy with this tent - set it for the first time this weekend to test it out and did some backyard camping. lots of nice features. Getting rain today and she is weathering the water well. This replaces my last Coleman tent (10-P) that I had for 10+ years.

First camping trip in a downpour, we stayed dry!

We tried out our tent immediately by spending the weekend in an Oregon downpour. There was even hail. It was nice that we were able to fit inside our tent with our camp chairs and stay cozy during the two day rain. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that the two side windows in the enclosed end of the tent both leaked at the seams. About a cup of water got inside the tent. That's not much though, and it was easily sopped up with a towel. I really liked the built in lighting, and the convenient switch to operate it. My husband said his main fault with the tent was that you have to use stakes to set it up completely, and he likes a tent to be freestanding, with no stakes. That's not much of a complaint, if you ask me. We both agree that our new tent is everything we wanted, and we'll just add some scotch gard to it. It was really easy to set up, but it did take both of us. I can't imagine how one person could do it very easily. Overall, we are very satisfied and looking forward to our next camping trip!

Awesome tent.

Set this tent up for the first time in the mountains of North Carolina. I had never camped there before. Well it rained, and it rained , the likes I had never seen. Everyone camping around me had covered their tents with a tarp to help shed all the rain.several of them still had water in their tents. Some even collapsed. Not only did this tent stay standing but not a drop of water inside. Love the hinged door also.

Great tent but no so durable

I bought this tent because of the light, ability to have two rooms and the self rolling windows. The first time I used it, a pole broke. Customer service was amazing and sent me a whole new tent. However, upon using it the next time, someone tripped and stepped wrong on the screen house tent stake loop and it ripped. So while I love the tent, its durability, for me, hasn’t been great.

Earned Thunderous Applause

My Phalene clung to me for dear life as a thunderous Summer storm swept above our Coleman Elite WeatherMaster tent, while our camping home for a night stood firm. This Airbnb host is tempted to add another guest venue.

Performed Above and Beyond

I want to start off by saying that I used this tent in a way for which it wasn't intended. I spent last season (2 March through 24 November) as the campground manager at Miguel's in the Red River Gorge, and set this tent up at the beginning of the season and have yet to take it down. During it's time as my home it has weathered thunderstorms, windstorms, and a few snowfalls, all without failure. It stayed waterproof and intact for the entire season, however toward the middle of September the rainfly started seeping due no doubt to breakdown from constant UV exposure. Considering that it had been setup for something like 24 weeks straight I would say it did a wonderful Job. I just threw a tarp over it, and it's still going today. The guys lines also had to be replaced, but, once again, they were exposed to the Sun and weather for months before they had to be. Along with being durable, this tent was comfortable. Between the mesh doors to the 'screen room', the mesh ceiling, and all of the windows the tent had plenty of ventilation. It got somewhat warm during the day in July and August, but it was also in full Sun during much of the day so that is to be expected. The hinged door, self rolling windows, and ceiling light were really nice and all worked quite well. If one plans to use this tent for more than a few days a year I would suggest the power pack for the light, since using so many D cell batteries is a horrible waste. A note on the door: you definitely want to ensure that the little Gutter/zipper flap is on the outside of the door when it's closed unless you want the wind opening it, though the velcro patches do a good job of keeping it closed. I'm currently looking at managing a different campground in the area for the upcoming season and am probably going to just give this tent to someone else for the season. If so, I would have no hesitation about buying another for this year, though I have been eyeballing the Prairie Breeze, so we'll see. I also had an Evanston which I gave to a friend early in the season. She used it for around 5 months straight right next to mine and had no complaints.

Best Tent I've Ever Owned

This tent is so versatile and has so many features that I didn't believe the packaging. When they say self rolling Windows they mean it it's like those snap bracelets they had back in the eighties and nineties where you touch it and it rolls up and it's so easy to unroll I was beside myself. Having multiple entrances makes it so easy for families and dogs. I was able to have our two very large dogs in the screened-in area and not have to worry about where they were. And I could still easily go in and out through the other door. The first night I used the tent I was very cold, however the second night we put on the rain fly and we're very comfortable. What I took from this was when it gets really cold out I'm still warm but I'm really hot Knight's I'll be able to cool off. The tent is really easy to pack up the expandable carrying case made that a breeze which is much better than my past experiences. And the LED lighting made it easy for everyone because we didn't have to move around lanterns to be able to see her stuff. I love my tent!

My favorite tent!

I am thrilled my favorite tent was actually a lot cheaper than my other ones! The door makes me realize how much I avoided going in and out of the tent with the zipper. The porch is great for morning coffee. The windows roll up nice and neat. The net roof is beautiful to wake up to (trees all above. And the light is great! Assembly is much easier than the square six person tents, and can be done by one person. Keep in mind, as usual, “6” person is packed in like sardines, but comfortably sleeps 2 or 3 twin cots with room to walk around and little glamping tables.

I had this tent for 10 years before it leaked

This tent was awesome for a family car camping. It's HUGE with a little "wall" in between for privacy and a screen room which is amazing for keeping stuff out of the tent including dirt and mud. We used this tent for 10 years before it began to leak. The lighting still works and we took it out and used it in our new one.

Great tent!

I somehow "inherited" this tent - it was in my garage when I moved and no one has claimed it, so it's mine now! Sets-up fairly easily with two adults - haven't mastered it by myself yet. Plenty of room for 6 sleeping bags plus gear inside (Although I usually have a queen-size airbed and 2 twin size). Screen room is bonus - store our cooler and food there, room for a camping table and chair as well. And the kids can get stuff from that room without letting bugs into the main tent. LOVE the hinged door on this - HUGE bonus there. Very high inside - 6-foot son can stand with lots of clearance in the whole tent. Nothing to complain about here! (And we've used it during rain with no problems, while other tents around us were flooded!) Unfortunately, the light was missing when I first used this - will try to get a replacement as that would be a nice feature.

Solid Design Tent, Quality Diminishing?

Just took this tent to Big Sur! It was easy to set up and take town. Great design. We love the space coming from an old 4-person Coleman tent. This fit a family of 4 really easy with space for all the luggage and clothes. Screen ripped really easy - first time camping! Has a little hole now. Not sure why. We've taken our old Coleman tent out over 20+ times with younger more destructive kids, but it's held up great - no holes. Hope Coleman isn't taking the quality out of it's products. Such a strong brand, hate to see them destroy it over poor quality control. Hoping this was just an anomaly.

Exceptional quality and durability.

We set this up before a four-day rain/wind front. It held up will and stayed dry. I like this tent very much and the sturdy design. I also purchased two tarps, one for the inside floor, and a larger tarp to cover the entire ground footprint including the screen area. Happy camping. Update 6/17/19: Weekend camping with the tent went great. Still very happy with all aspects of it. Easy set up and take down.

So spacious and functional

this tent is everything we were looking for in a tent. We wanted to be able to stand up and fit a queen sized mattress with our bags in the tent with plenty of space to spare. We also love the patio area for our chairs and the entrance also keeps the bugs out. We love that you can take off the top of the tent to see the sky during the day or the stars at night.

Good size

The tent allows me to store all my gear inside in bad weather. I just wish that Coleman would reinforce at least one center seam and put a loop or ring in the reinforced seam to be able to hang a lantern or light in the tent. This would also require the central exterior supports to be a little more substantial then the ones currently used. This is a car camping tent and a few more ounces of metal to make the supports able to handle the extra load is not a real consideration with this tent. otherwise head room is good and so far in wet weather no leaks. Good tent

Great Tent!

Received the tent and set up in my backyard right away because storms were coming. I wanted to give the tent the test before camping. Winds were 11mph with up to 25mph gusts. The rain came down hard, received an inch in an hour. The tent held up perfectly and didn't have one leak. I purchased the sealer just in case but gladly did not have to use. Love the roll up windows, that is a huge plus and the lighting system is fantastic. I can reach the switch from the blow up bed we use. Definitely go with the elite, the added features are nice. Can't wait to camp with the tent and enjoy my morning coffee from the screened in porch!!

Great tent for family camping.

My husband and I have camped at the beach multiple times with this spacious tent. My brother called it a “palace” when he helped us set up. Could not compare it to the older competitor tents which he always tented in. We were impressed with it’s features.

Great Tent!

This is the 1st of two tents we purchased from Coleman, I haven't been disappointed yet! We camp in northern Montana from spring through fall and have never been wet or cold while sleeping! It assembles quickly with the color coded features and we love the hinged door and roll-up windows. Having the option to remove the rain fly and sleep under the stars without the bugs is great. The screen porch is a nice feature, we use it to store our chairs and coolers over night out of the weather. ...
