I've used this hammer for developing countless new routes and replacement of old hardware supported by the ASCA. It has been a trusty companion: The hole allows easy attachment of a funkness device, the claw-end is a good sized point for precision cleaning of choss during new routing, and a quick wrap with hockey tape gives the handle some decent grip. The reason I'm giving it 3 stars is that over the years, despite treating it with linseed oil, the head of the hammer has loosed significantly on the handle to the point that it is now unusable. The way the head is attached (with twin, riveted plates makes replacement of the handle virtually impossible. Furthermore, BD Warranty seems uninterested in helping me with this issue (either through repair of the handle or replacement) which is disappointing for such an expensive, high quality tool. This leaves me wondering if I should try another design or drop another chunk of change on a new one. BD: Please support your products or redesign the handle-head interface so it can be replaced like most quality hammers and axes.

Light as a feather and stings like a bee, that's what I like about the Yose-mit-e Hammer! High quality too! Thanks for a great product!

Best hammer out there, I use it for route development primarily. It'll outlast me for sure. The first and last hammer you'll need for climbing.

I got stuck in a bucket and only had my black diamond Yosemite hammer on me. I did what anyone else would do and started climbing up a mountain to get to space. I was very impressed by the sturdy yet springy nature of the hammer, I cant tell you how many times ive tried to to pull myself up a bucket and had the hammers of competing brands split in 2! For anyone looking to get over it I highly suggest this marvel of engineering.

I've had this hammer for 9-10 years. It's been used for nailing, heading, cleaning, and hand drilling. Sometimes my hand slides around on the handle a little while wearing gloves.

Black Diamond Yosemite Hammer
The Black Diamond Yosemite Hammer was introduced in '66 when big wall climbing was in the early stage of development and popularity. The hammer features an oiled hickory handle that reduces vibration and ensures an excellent grip, making it a great choice for big wall climbers. Its investment-cast stainless steel head is extremely durable and can handle heavy-duty tasks. Additionally, this classic hammer comes with a clip-in point that easily removes copperhead. Plus, the pick is drooped for pin leverage. A biner hole is also included to help remove the head and pin. Also equipped with a replaceable 13mm (1/2 in) webbing and a shoulder-length runner, the Yosemite hammer enhances its reliability and proves that you can never go wrong with a classic. So, whether you are a budding or a seasoned big wall climber, you can definitely depend on the Black Diamond Yosemite Hammer to get the job done.
