Lightweight, strong, cheap, works great, what else do you need? A no B.S. nut tool for those who don't care about all the frilly gimmicks. You'll be grabbing this old classic in a pinch every time your latest and greatest torque wrench/clip on/ palm cushioned/laser etched/bottle opening designer multi tool fails you and breaks mid route and leaves you with your nuts in a bind! When you're old, crippled with arthritis and sitting back telling the young punks you're embellished stories of yesteryear. You'll look over to your worn out, thrashed antique rack and this will be the nut tool which survives and still remains attached to your harness.

Does what it is supposed to do, but I don't like that they made the handling end a bottle opener versus putting a gate on it so you don't have to bring another carabiner with you.

Does the job, it's light weight and fits into those cracks good.

An absolutely essential piece of gear for those pesky peices of pro that your climbing partner jammed too far, especially after taking a fall or two. Only reason I gave a 7 is because I regret not buying the self clipping nut tool.

I have only used it a few times but it's been a huge help, would be silly to be placing Nuts without it. The wire gate one is probably the way to go just cause of ease of use but other than that no complaints.

I would like to better understand the design of this tool. The original leper nut tool was the best !

Solid nut tool; I've never had an issue getting a piece out and thought another tool could do it better. A little annoying that you need a carabiner to attach it to your harness, and having a leash would be nice. The bottle opener end is a nice touch though.

I have had this nut tool since 2000. It has worked great for 17 years and does the job it is designed to.

The nut tool is does the job well. However, The black finish does not match (nit picking with the rest of the chrome finished gear black diamond offers. The bottle opener is a neat idea. The nut tool would be more beneficial if there was a way to connect the tool to a gear sling. I had to purchase a small piece of webbing and another biner in order to secrue it to my second. Other than the finish, the harsh edges, and the lack of a lanyard, it is a solid piece of gear.

Seems solid, and works as described. The bottle opener feature is a bonus.

As a wise old goat once said to me (in somewhat cruder terms), "Never mind the Second; Set the pro." A nut tool is a mandatory part of the trad rack, because you can't always count on your Second having one, but you can count on jamming a nut on any trad pitch. A nut tool would have to be perfectly magical to get an "Excellent" rating from me, and the only way to get to "magical" is for the nut tool to pull impossibly stuck gear without me actually having to do anything to make it so. At "Good," this is the best nut tool that i've ever owned. Yeah, it could have a groovy clippy thing to fasten it to my harness or rack, but then it wouldn't cost $9.95. At that price point, I can drop this thing off a high cliff, never to be found (by me), and i won't cry. And the bottle opener feature ... that's a key feature for this climber, because it means that the designers are thinking holistically, like the rest of us rogues.

Straight Forward Tool. No Frills, just utility. Exactly what i need when the wind is rippin' and we just need to clean the route and get off!

Good nut tool but it's rather heavy and mine rusted after about a year.

If you had to design the most basic nut tool and keep it functional and cheap, this would be it. Yes, others have candy apple red bells, but I actually prefer this one. Does its job and gives you options as to how you want to attach it.

I'm not sure why some folks are bagging on the BD nut tool. Come on, it's a nut removal tool. How exciting is it supposed to be? It helps remove jammed nuts and cams like it's designed to. It even has a bottle opener for Christ's sake. If the edges are too sharp for your delicate hands wrap the end with some athletic tape. Tada! BD could have added more bells and whistles, but then it wouldn't be $9.95. It's always done what it was designed to do. No complaints here.

This is a great nut tool. I've used one for years, and it's very durable, works well, and it opens bottles too. You should pick one of these up, you won't be disappointed!
