Starting a Fire in Wet Conditions

As we head into fall camping season, one thing people are going to start seeing a lot more of is rain, especially in the Pacific Northwest. And the only thing that puts a bigger damper on camping than rain is the inability to get a warming fire going because everything around you is wet. While it’s wise to always carry some kind of fire starting tinder, particularly the kind that will ignite in wet conditions, you don’t have to despair if you don’t have any. If there are pine trees around your campsite, you’re in luck, as they will be the main component of getting a fire started, even in the rain. This helpful tutorial comes from an outdoorsman who has experience in a region that sees more rain in a month than many places in the US see in an entire year.
