Jutting out into the North Sea just south of Norway and Sweden, Denmark rarely sees temperatures above 70F. The cold, clear nights here make it an excellent place to view the aurora borealis. In fact, the northern lights of Denmark are some of the most colorful in the hemisphere.

Northern lights are often perceived as being green, but when conditions are right, they can appear in a veritable rainbow of other colors. This atmospheric phenomenon is best viewed on clear nights with no moon and few clouds. Thanks to its climate, the lights of Denmark are visible nearly year round.
