If you followed our series on disaster preparedness, you’ll remember that bugging out requires relocating to a pre-determined, secure location that will become your shelter and living space for the foreseeable future. It’s a good idea to stock this location with food supplies that can be stored without the need for refrigeration, and have a plan for rationing.
But what happens when the supplies are exhausted? An important part of your disaster preparedness plan is learning a few hunting methods so you can be successful in a variety of environments. One of the easiest methods of hunting is by using a basic snare trap.
A basic snare trap is simply a noose connected to an anchor point, like a tree root or low branch. When prey passes through the noose, it tightens around the animal, constricting even further as it struggles against the snare. Snare traps are designed primarily for smaller animals, like squirrels and rabbits. They are not lethal, however — you will need to kill your catch once it’s caught.
This comprehensive video from Ultimate Survival Tips has all the information you’ll need to create and set a snare trap using paracord or wire and available resources. Settle in, learn an important disaster preparedness skill, and make sure your plan is complete!
