For many people, few aspects of camping are as rewarding as catching a fresh fish. You then get to prepare it yourself with some delicious ingredients. Because many campsites are adjacent to rivers and lakes, this is something even amateur anglers can do! Well, provided you can hook one, of course!

There are plenty of fish that will be easy to cook and pair with your favorite flavors, but the most basic recipe typically involves garlic, salt, pepper, butter, and lemon, all wrapped up in a neat little aluminum foil package. While that’s all it really takes to infuse a nice, savory flavor into your catch of the day, it’s also very easy to make it a full meal deal by adding vegetables to the packet, such as squash, zucchini, fingerling potatoes, asparagus, green beans — whatever veggie floats your boat! Here’s a video made by a youngster who seems to have quite a bit of experience when it comes to the art of cooking a freshly caught fish over a campfire. Learn his master tricks, and don’t forget the most important ingredient: a whole lot of fun!
