With winter fully upon us, many people turn their attention to hitting the slopes for skiing and snowboarding, with the goal of finding the best ski resorts of the US, including the Pacific Northwest. If you’re looking to make the most of this winter’s predicted heavy snowfall in the PNW, check out our recommendations for three of the best ski areas in the region.

1. White Pass

Located at a community of the same name on Washington state, White Pass makes the list of the top three ski resorts in the Pacific Northwest. A number of reasons exist for White Pass garnering this designation. The resort has a nice mix of slopes for individuals of different ability and experience levels. A smaller resort by contrast with others in the region, it is also ideal for a skier or snowboarder who likes to avoid the significant hustle and bustle that exists at larger destinations.

2. Mount Bachelor

Mount Bachelor is located just outside of Bend, Oregon. The resort is home to the highest skiable elevation in the Pacific Northwest, which makes it attractive to many wintertime recreational enthusiasts. In part due to its elevation, Mount Bachelor has one of the longest ski seasons of the ski resorts in the Pacific Northwest. It also offers a blend of trails for people of different skill and experience levels.

3. Sun Valley

Perhaps the best known of the ski resorts in the Pacific Northwest, Sun Valley is located at the Idaho community if the same name. It is a destination that attracts the rich and famous as well as lesser known ski and snowboard buffs. Skiers and snowboarders can take advantage of slopes on two mountains at Sun Valley: Bald and Dollar. Perhaps the most expensive ski resort in the Pacific Northwest, its slopes and other accoutrements make it work the cost.
