As the human population continues to expand and land becomes more scarce, we are faced with the unfortunate die-off of other species. The causes include factors other than those that are man-made, but often their endangerment is due to human-induced trauma, such as pollution, destruction of habitat for development, and just plain slaughter for a variety of purposes. Many of these factors, and more, have landed these 10 animals on our 10 North American Endangered species list.

Species extinction has an effect on the entire world at large, whether it seems apparent or not. Every living thing plays a vital role in the Earth’s ecosystems, and without the pieces in the right place, the entire structure is in danger of collapse.

Here are just 10 of such species that are endangered right here in North America. Is there anything you can do to help them?
