Super comfortable

I'm 6'3 300lbs and just hiked 15 miles at the Grand Canyon. Not a bad way to break in this pack. I was looking for a new one that was big enough for such a trek and that was a great fit... this was it. It was super comfortable and very reliable. Plenty of storage space for everything I needed to carry and then some. I honestly couldn't have made it without this one. Another hiker on the trail wanted to trade packs with me. I would've pushed him over the canyon if he tried.

Great day pack.

By Dawna S.

Unlike most day packs that hang off your shoulders, or have a thin waist strap, this pack sports I wide strap that allows the weight to sit lower allowing one's hips to carry more of the weight. I would definitely recommend this pack. Comfortable, many pockets and quite roomy.

An amazing pack

Being 6'5" it is hard to find a good pack. This one is the closest to it. With the metal frame it felt great. I would say having an adjustable lumbar would make this untouchable in the market. I loved it and

Camelbak has built the perfect daypack

I've gone through almost 10 Camelbaks in the past 20 years and have been happy with each one. Most of these packs got 80% of what I needed for the particular activity. Then the Franconia was released and I couldn't be happier with the results. I'll focus on my 3 favorite features. The Air Suspension system just works. Gone are the days of sweaty, sticky backs and the weight of the pack pushing up against me. It's also lightweight yet strong so there are really no drawbacks here. I hope to see this system make it to a few of their smaller packs, but understand if it might not be possible given the added bulk. The hip zip pouches are such a simple, valuable solution to the pack. I can fit my large smartphone (Galaxy S8+ with case) in one pouch and some snacks in the other pouch. I no longer need to unlatch the straps on the pack, swing over the pack, then unzip a back pouch to access some items I frequently need. This is probably my favorite feature. The trekking pole attachment system came just in time. I just started using trekking poles, especially when going downhill, and needed a pack which could easily stow them away when not in use. Again, the Franconia came to the rescue. Now I can secure them away on my hike up and then grab them on my way down. They never get in my way when attached to the pack. They are securely fit and silent as they should be. Again, this is the perfect daypack. I haven't even mentioned the excellent load bearing of the pack or the updated water reservoir. Everything about this pack is the culmination of years of fine tuning what works and getting rid of what doesn't. Thanks Camelbak for knocking this one out of the park!

Excellent Pack Design

After a pack from another brand bit the dust after being used every day for a few years I started looking back at a CamelBak since I have never had one of their packs fail. I have an old Fourteener model that I love and was planning on getting another one for my daily use bag when I stumbled on the Franconia. I really like the full aluminum stays on the pack as well as the idea of a lumbar bladder to help with stability and proper weight distribution. After using the pack daily for a while and hiking with is yesterday with appx. 15-20 lbs I can say the suspension design is great at transferring weight. The pack is extremely comfortable and does a great job at placing the weight on your hips if you want it to. I think the durability will be just as good as my other CamelBak packs. For reference I am 6'1" tall and this pack has a long enough torso for me unlike other packs in this size range. The only thing I would change would be to add a couple of small organization pockets inside the main pocket. Other than that I have no complaints about this excellent design. The hipbelt pockets are designed so that there is actually enough room to store items in them, unlike many other packs. The lumbar bladder is also very nice. All in all, this is a top notch pack with excellent design, comfort, and durability.

GREAT DAY PACK AND EXCELLENT FOR EVERYDAY USE!

I have used this pack everyday for three months. My job requires a lot of travel and it always goes with me, loaded with a first aid kit, food, jacket, office essentials and sometimes my 15" laptop. I have used this pack for many small 4-5 mile hikes with great success. It has been to the summit of Mount San Antonio (Mt. Baldy, Cucamonga Peak, and Mount San Jacinto. I am 5'2, 144 pounds and have to say the bag fits great. The hips and shoulder straps are very adjustable! Once, the bag is adjusted and cinched down on your back, it feels very solid. I love the external frame and how solid it feels. I could not recommend this pack more.

Just got back from Zion National Park! This backpack was epic. Enough space for water change of cloths second pair of shoes and food for an entire 2 days. Easy to get everything with the great organization. Pack sits perfect on your back with all the adjustments for shoulders and waist belt. The air flow in the back panel make a world of difference and keeps you cool for the entire day

Incredibly comfortable, never fails

I have taken this bag around the world with me and on all sorts of outdoor trips. It never disappoints and can hold more than enough water comfortably for long day hikes in the heat. Only thing that could improve is more interior compartments.

Hiking and Hydration Made Easy

I bought this pack so I could carry camera gear and tools and then also have a large amount of water with. I use this pack when we go miles out into the woods Morel Mushroom hunting. It is very comfortable to wear. Even having the 3L bladder filled doesn't seem heavy. I can crush a tone of water and be confident I wont run out. Staying hydrated allows me to feel stronger, and refreshed while deep in the wild. The aluminum frame is a great feature and the way it holds away from your back is nice. I am happy with everything about it and am glad I bought the expensive one.

Comfortable!!

I bought this pack with the intention to use it on long day hikes and herping. I honestly love it. You hardly need to worry about running out of water, and it has a lot of support so it doesn't wear you out. I also never really found myself overheating as the pack has great airflow. The only gripe I have is that I just wish there was more storage space. However, I still manage to load it full of gear. It is still definitely worth the buy.
