I used the MSR Pocket Rocket stove at altitudes from 8,000 - 11,000 ft. on the John Muir Trail in the Sierra Nevada during an 8 day July backpacking trip. Even at relatively exposed campsites, it did not prove difficult to light or to boil water, provided one took some care to find a sheltered/level spot. An 8 oz fuel canister easily lasted the week with fuel to spare (using the stove morning & evening). A wonderful stove!

I used the pocket rocket every day for every meal for about a month on a cross country adventure. This stove is easy to light and light to carry. It is also durable, it was stepped on while packing camp in the middle of the night, after bending one of the legs of the grill back into place it continued to work like it always has. I have used down to 14F with no problems, and prefer it over the whisper light because it has a more controlled start so I can use it in the vestibule of my tent if it is cold or windy. I also own the GSI outdoors glacier dualist, which this fits into the cook-set comfortably with fuel making it nice for carry.

This stove doesn't get enough respect 'cause it's [$]. Excellent heat adjustment, packs in a little box you can almost hide in your hand. Sometimes when I get a wilderness Jones I bring it downstairs with my camp percolator and make coffee. My wife tolerates it, she's had practice

This is a wonderful, easy to use burner. Set up is a breeze. You can get your heat very low or you can boil a quart of water in no time. This is a little flame thrower if you want it to be. I use this burner mainly for canoe camp trips. It's perfect for perking that morning pot of coffee. It's a stable little unit as long as you don't over do it. It's not made for big dutch ovens or similar sized pots. The carry case is great and takes up very little space in a pack. Keep in mind, the fuel cannister isn't supplied with the unit. You have to purchase it separately. I've really enjoyed using the PocketRocket.

I love this little gem. I have never had an issue with mine. I only do 2-3 day hikes at a time. I don't use the little red plastic case it comes with. I put a 4 oz. can of MSR fuel in the bottom of my pot upside down and put my stove in and then the lid and pack it. Usually cook for my son and myself and it does a great job. I am about to order another one from you guys, so my son will have his own.

Great for weekend hikes. I have fed a family of four for four nights and only used one and a half fuel bottles. Plus plastic case is great for storage.
