As a climber and professional mountain guide, I have been using these gloves for years. They are lightweight, breathable, have excellent dexterity, and are protective. However, Black Diamond could really improve these gloves. They are not very durable and wear through quickly, specifically on the index finger and thumb. If they added a lightweight leather palm and thumb wrap, the gloves would be much more durable and long-lasting. Another idea for improvement would be to re-locate the carabiner clip loop from the velcro wrist strap to the underside of the wrist portion of the glove. Eliminating the velcro altogether and simply having an elastic wrist band would prevent the velcro from catching slings, which is quite inconvenient at times. Aside from these ideas for improvements, these are my favorite belay/rappel gloves for both guiding and personal climbing. Lightweight and breathable, it is a no-brainer to throw them in the pack and save your skin for when it matters...while climbing!

These are great gloves for rock scrambling on Colorado peaks. Tough material has held up well to sharp rocks. Also adds a bit of warmth on the chilly mornings.

Hike in an environment with lots of sharp rock and cactus scrambles... These are fantastic for making sure I can work on Monday morning (I am a physical therapist and need my hands. Fit is great and I am really pleased with these. My wife loves her set as well.

This is my second pair of crag gloves. I bought the first crag gloves over a year ago and use them regularly. There are no signs of excessive wear or tear on them. I will give them a 5 star review if I get another year out of them.

Comfortable and plenty of feeling. Hopefully they hold up well, but I have not worries so far.

Own at least 4 pair of these gloves. Great for all types of work - yard work, construction, etc not just climbing. Not perfect when they get wet, but it’s not supposed to be waterproof. Excellent product

Gloves are used for belaying, sailing, Canyoning’s and fishing. Love the features not to thin not to thick. Doesn’t get all slimy like leather gloves when soaked

I haven't used these on belay yet but they've recently become my favorite cycling glove. The padded palm and the way the fingers are seamed make these perfect for MTB. These aren't the absolute nicest gloves I've ever had but they are the absolute best value. For $20 they beat most MTB gloves up to $40.

Excellent price-performance ratio. I use the glove a lot for ski touring, very often in combination with the outer shell of the Guide Gloves. If it gets really cold, I still have the warm and not sweaty inner glove of the Guide Gloves. So with two gloves a week of ski tours perfectly covered. The Crag Glove in combination with the outer cover of the Guide Glove is also wonderful for alpine ice and mixed climbing.

Had these out doing rope work a few times and am very happy with the fit; the thumb and pinky aren't too long like a lot of gloves and they are very comfy. Time will tell for the durability aspect but for the price it's hard to go wrong.

Exactly as described. I put these gloves through the spectrum of conditions (mixed snow and rain to hot and dusty)during a rope rescue course a few weeks ago and they were great!!

These gloves are actually used outside of climbing, but are servicing me as advertised. They stretch very little and hold true to the sizing chart as referenced.

I've had several pairs as they do eventually wear out. I fit down one size for a tight fit as they will stretch just slightly with a bit of use. Gloves are durable, dexterity is one of the best features, and they will clip to my harness without me punching a hole in them. I keep a pair in every pack.

I recently bought the Crag Gloves from Black Diamond's website. Shipping was great. These gloves provide just the right amount of protection when belaying. They are thick enough to protect you but allow tactile feedback. I also like that you can clip the gloves right onto a beaner.

I have had these gloves for about two years. I originally bought them for via ferratas that I was doing in Europe, but have since used them for belaying, spelunking, nordic skiing, and general chilly weather. I've never been pricked on the wires or burned by a rope. Every time they start to show some wear, I toss them in the wash and they come out looking great. When these totally wear out, I'll be buying another pair.

These are lightweight and not too hot as a versatile belay glove. They seem to breath better than some others I have had. They are good for rope handling but don't expect them to last forever as they are not a heavy duty "beast" work glove. For the price I can afford to buy another pair when I wear these out. I have used a number of other gloves but these are now the pair that hangs on my harness on a day to day basis. They also look pretty good to boot.

I bought the on a climbing store here in Mexico, they are great. You can also use it as horse riding gloves, it helps you a lot to have a better holding of the reins.

After a dozen or so uses, these seem to hit a sweet spot for me. I also have BD's all leather Transition Gloves, but those are hot for summer use. I don't expect the Crag Glove to be quite as durable, but they certainly breathe a bit more. Picked the orange ones because I'm less likely to leave them behind.

I know they are designed as a belay/rappel glove but they are the best work gloves I have used. I would go through a pair of hardware store gloves in a month. These are now going on 3 months of yard work, stone hauling, wood cutting and not showing any signs of wear. I have to get another pair for my actual crag glove where I handled gas/oil. Dexterity is also very good.

A great all-around rope glove. These don't last super long, but for the price, fit and function, I'm willing to make that concession.

For those of us who have large hands, you know how difficult it can be to find a comfortable well fitting glove. For me this is it. The Crag gloves fit nicely, enough width around the palm and snug in the fingers without too much length. My hand is 10" in diameter around the palm and 8" from wrist to tip of the middle finger and the XL gloves fit nicely. The gloves are durable as well. I use them for belay and rope work, and after 15+ high speed belays on a tyolian they show no sign or wear...just a little dirty. All in all the synthetic leather works well, breathes nicely, and is durable

They don't last like transition gloves but they fit much more snug and they grip the rope better when belaying.

Use these guys for rock scrambling and for rope handling in the Sierras and in Joshua Tree. Comfortable, good quality glove, and you can't beat the price.

The Crag Gloves are very versatile and work very well while belaying. Their only downfall is that after 2 weeks of constant use, you can see the wear and tear on the gloves. Other than that, these work like a charm and will take anything.

As a K9 Search and Rescue handler, I purchased these gloves to keep my hands protected from berry bushes, poison oak, brush and friction burns from the trailing lead, They are sturdy enough to take abuse, the mesh back keeps them cool and I still have a good feel for the line. If they work to reel in my lab, they should work well for your belay. Only down side, they do take a while to dry.

These are solid gloves, enough dexterity to do rope work, but also adequate for cool temps, I recommend them
