My Mom got me this as a gift like 10-15 years ago....And I love it! Very convenient as a stuff sack for my cloths, and a bit more comfy to use as a pillow then using my sleeping bag sack....which now I dont even carry.....Im actually on here to guy one as a gift for someone else. Glad they still make em!

MSR Trekker Pillow Case Eggplant: I bought this pillow case in preparation for an upcoming camping trip in the Grand Canyon. The case is a very soft, quiet, and a comfy brushed fabric, and I love the colour! I decided to try it out at home first, in my own bed and the first night had a tough time filling it. I had 3 long sleeve merino base layers, as well as a medium weight turtle neck sweater. It still wasn't full. So I shook everything to the bottom and folded the top over. I made a nest (indentation for my ear - I'm a side sleeper) and it worked, but was kind of hard. Then I read another reviewer who used a down jacket. So the next night I tried my down vest. The case was fuller this time, but not completely. So I folded it over on itself. Problem was I was sleeping on the metal snaps... Flipped it over. No snaps, but I couldn't make a nest for my ear. How could a down vest feel hard on my ear? The next night, I tried some informal origami folding so that my ear would be where the edges of a fold came together. I had a nest for my ear, and no snaps to sleep on! Success:) Verdict: If you are a minimalist, and are really trying to cut down on weight, this may be just the thing... But ask yourself: Will you have enough spare clothing or a down vest to fill it? The pillow case with my down vest weighs 17oz/485g on my kitchen scale. According the MSR specs, the small compressible pillow: 7 oz/198g. So.... If you have enough clothing, or are bringing a down vest anyway and won't be sleeping in it, this may be just the thing. If you aren't packing a down vest, then I would reconsider and might go for the small size MSR compressible pillow. The problem is that I haven't found any stores that carry the small size:( and unless you're lucky enough to catch an MSR free shipping event or need to buy enough gear to put you over the rather high free shipping minimum, you will add significantly to the cost:(

Love my pillow case, I stuff it with my down jacket and have a warm soft pillow all night while backpacking. It also keeps my down warm and I always know where to get it during the night for those have to visit the outdoors moments...I use it year round and stuff it with whatever I am carrying for clothes and pack it with my liner & fleece sleeping wear..
