Review Summary

I used this bag within a matter of weeks after getting it. My plan was to test out some of my recent purchases - like my Eureka Grand Manan 9 and Eureka Mountain Pass 3XTE, Kelty Compression Stuff Sacks, GoLite Odyssey Internal Pack, and tent stakes from The North Face (see my reviews on those items as well). So, I decided to go car camping for this test since I was going to be bringing a variety of different things to run through their paces. Well, it turned out to be a great time to test the boundaries of some of my gear. The weekend had temps that ranged from the lower 20's to mid 30's F. Saturday night, I could see my breath the entire night in my tent. Outside temps were in the lower 20's. And, I woke up to the welcoming sound of sleet and snow. I was not using a tent heater. But, inside my Slumberjack Latittude 20F sleeping bag, I was as warm as toast I had no problem shifting around inside the bag, as it has ample room (at least for me - I'd consider myself to have an average build). The only problem that I did find was that the zipper would sometimes snag in my haste to zip it up. But, the chance of snagging seemed to reduce when I took the time to zip it slowly and steadily, making certain that the tracks were taut. Seriously, other than that, the bag was awesome. It's neither the lightest nor the smallest compressing. But, it's far from the heaviest or bulkiest in the same breath. And, in my opinion, this is a fabulous purchase for the price. The weight, compressed size, performance, and cost all combine to provide some of the biggest bang for the buck. I plan to test my Slumberjack Latitude 0F sleeping bag as we enter the middle of winter and temps continue to drop. Look for my review of that in the near future. Who knows, I might even get the opportunity to test my Slumberjack Latitude -20F sleeping bag. It could happen in GA. Right? ;^)

1/2 length zipper is awkard to get in and out of bag. Cannot open full length to cool off early and cover up later.

If you want a mummy bag that performs well down to 20 degrees Fahrenheit, check out the Slumberjack Lapland 20F 550-Fill DriDown Hybrid Dual Zipper Sleeping Bag. Featuring a body-zoned hybrid construction that places the advanced hydrophobic DriDown on the top where you need it, there's synthetic Slumberloft Pro insulation on the bottom that resists compression. You can easily adjust your ventilation with the dual sliding zippers in case you like to keep a leg out, and the zippers are all anti-snag, making it easy to get in and out. The Lapland 20F 550-Fill DriDown Hybrid Dual Zipper Sleeping Bag features hook and loops tabs on the outside with dual zippers that let you slide your arms out of the sleeping bag, but keep your head, chest, and body covered, letting you use your arms without having to get out of the bag. It's also been treated with Double-Dri waterproofing at the hood and footbox where sleeping bags normally touch tent walls to keep your bag dry in inclement weather, and the fabric is black-colored Solar Liner that dries much faster in the sun. You can adjust the hood for a customized fit with the dual adjustment cords, and the full length draft tube down each zipper seals in your body heat and resists cold air leakage.
