Oboz WindRiver 2- Fantastic Boot
Fantastic Boot if used as they were designed! Make no mistake- these are not your average hiking boots that are soft and plush out of the box! These boots are made for BACKPACKING, or at least someone who understands the difference. They offer superior rigidity and support than most any other hiking boot I've tried (and I've used lots)- They take a bit to break in properly, but when they do- they won't let you down. They are stiff, supportive, lock your heel in like no other boot I've tried, and completely waterproof, yet fairly breathable. The molded insole is great from the factory- no need to go out and purchase a $40.00 pair of Superfeet insoles- these are every bit as good, if not better than the Superfeet I've worn in past boots. I use these for backcountry hunting (off trail in the Wilderness areas of Oregon)- I've used dedicated hunting boots for years and never was quite happy, even with spending $300-$400 on some Name Brand Boots- These handle the Mountains extremely well at 1/3 the price! If you are looking for a mild mannered hiking boot to walk the dog on a gravel road- might be a bit stiff and overkill- Just be aware of what you are buying- For use in what they were designed to do- phenomenal boot!
