When we are camping in Canada, Northern Michigan, Minnesota, ect some can find the bugs can be a bit overwhelming! This shelter can be worth its weight in gold, but much more useful in the bush than a gold bar. Even with a bug net on you, the constant noise and buzzing can play heck on your general disposition toward a trip. This allowed us all to gather for meals and relax with minimal issues.

I rented the 9x9 Nemo Bugout shelter from an outfitter on two occasions for canoe trips into the BWCA. With the screen sides, the shelter was both a rain tarp and an oasis to escape the (the worst of the mosquitoes in the evenings. This shelter was a game changer for me taking first timers to the BWCA by allowing us to be "outside" in the evenings. It doesn't come with poles which doesn't matter in the BWCA because most camp sites have plenty of trees to tie up to. I ended up purchasing the 12'x12' size as I wanted it for a July trip and the 9'x9' was sold out. If I could do it over again, (assuming 6 people or less) I would go with the 9'x9' size as it offers more set up options in BWCA campsites (smaller footprint), it is slightly smaller to pack and weighs a little less. Some have reported problems with zippers. I have never had a problem and with all my tents, I ask users to be not abuse the zippers and open them fully before going in/out. This shelter is on my top 10 favorite pieces of gear!

I bought this for a May BWCA paddling trip, and it was a godsend! We caught the blackfly hatch, and without the NEMO, we would have suffered through the trip. Instead, we were able to eat in peace. When my pad failed, I switched to a hammock in the NEMO, and had the best sleep in the woods ever. GREAT PURCHASE WORTH EVERY PENNY!

First off I love Nemo and I love the design of this tarp. For a boundary waters trip it is a must have. The problem is the tie out points. They are not up to the task. The should be the burliest part and they are not. The stitching behind the grommets on both ridge line points pulled out without weathering a storm and this was the first use. I assume that Nemo would have fulfilled any warranty request I sent in but I did not send it in and am not marking down my rating because of that. They need to design the tie out point with much more reinforcement and a simple warranty restitch would be of limited value in my opinion. So I used some dental floss while in BWCA and sewed the snot out of it and it’s still going strong a few years later. All of the tie-out points should be beefed up. Hopefully this has already been redesigned at the time of my review. The one I’m using is at least 3 years old. I would still recommend it for the boundary waters or anyplace that mosquitoes make the camping miserable without an escape.

This was our favorite piece of gear for Boundary Waters this year (2016. It kept us and our gear dry. Kept the bugs, frogs, and mice, out! Super easy to pitch and put away. Loved the versatility with how high or low it could be pitched. Much whiskey was consumed in this shelter while storms and bugs were kept at bay.

We purchased the 9' X 9' two years ago, and it has proven itself time and time again. First, it's easy to put up and very versatile in how you can put it up with the option of using any combination of trees, ropes, poles, hiking sticks, and stakes. Also, the zippers are versatile to enter unzipping from top or bottom. It's great shelter from sun, rain, and bugs. We have used it backpacking ( a little heavy, but it can make the difference between sitting outside or hiding in the tent from the bugs), on the beach for shade, kayaking, and car camping. It's not super tall, but we have alite mayfly chairs that sit low so it's not a problem. We don't ever want to be without it!

I've guided overnight seakayak trips in Everglades National Park for years where the noseeums and mosquitoes are legendary. They invariably come out just as I serve dinner so a screen tent makes the differance between unbarable and pleasent. I've used several screenhouses over the years and the Bugout is a dream come true. It has many options for setting it up, I particularly like the fact that I can roll up the screen before taking it down keeping dew wetted netting from picking up sand, bits of shell and sand spurs as it never has to hit the ground. I also love that you can run a hammock through it because of the 3 zipper pulls and the position of the doors. It worked perfectly with my turtle/dog hammock stand. There really is no other sreenhouse on the market that compares for use in the Everglades! The only drawback is to use some poles requires a slight modification. The grommets are larger than some other brand poles and just slip right past the pin and over the pole itself. I tied some plastic washers near the grommets so I could use some old Noah's Tarp poles but have switched to the Nemo poles which are much nicer. I could not survive the Winter in the Everglades without a screentent and this is far and away my favorite

I brought this Bugout bug net to the BWCAW in July at the peak of the mosquitoes and storms. Not only did it keep the bugs from eating me but I survived 100+ mph winds during a 4 hour storm, including hail, inside this with no damage!

Took this to the Boundary Waters in June. Bugs were bad and this was a dream to have. Set up and take down are super easy. This shelter kept us and our equipment dry during rain showers. Netting also helped minimize the wind while inside. It was hard for me to spend the money on something like this, but once I had it and used it, I was completely satisfied! It was a must have on our trip!
