I bought this tent a couple years ago for our family of 4 to do car camping in the PNW. We've used it a handful of times and I'm a big fan. The footprint is plenty big for all of to sleep, plus our dog, plus space for an entry mat and clothes bags and more. I'm about 6'2" and can stand up in the middle, which is one of the main reasons I chose this tent. The floor material is tough enough for us; I'm not worried about any issues with it, even with a small dog. Every time we've used it we've put the fly on for privacy and because rain is always a possibility in the PNW. I was worried it would get stuffy but the airflow through the tent has been good, even with the door zipped. Last note, I've actually been able to set it by myself. Usually I ask my kids to "help" (they're little so they take on small tasks), but have had to it on my own most times. That's pretty helpful so the kids can go run around after the drive to the campsite and my wife and keep an on eye on them while I set things up.

Setup was intuitive and there was plenty of room inside. I have only used i twice hoping it will last like my previous Kelty Grand Canyon tent.

This tent is huge! Great quality, good value, sturdy and easy setup. If I had to add anything it would be another light pocket.

My Kelty tent had some trouble with the poles, and had to be replaced once already when I called Kelty instead of the store the tent was purchased from to deal with the warranty. I was very pleased to talk to a person with only a very short wait, but more importantly that the lady on the phone offered to very simply replace my tent. Since the problem tent is not on their standard menu, they replaced it with this Sequoia 6, a nicer tent, effectively offering me a bit of an upgrade for the trouble. Very thoughtful to customers, I will be purchasing my next tent from Kelty. Thank you. I have not yet received my replacement tent, I will try to update when it shows up.

Overall the tent is great. I really like how spacious it is, the high ceiling, robust poles, and various storage pockets inside, however, when the rain fly is being used it really restricts the air flow. In direct sunlight, the tent becomes an oven due to the rain fly creating a blanket/insulation. There is a small vent/awning but it really provides no ventilation. Other than that the tent is great.

Super easy to setup, and lots and lots of space. Definitely larger than I thought so keep that in mind if you're looking to be efficient with your space. This one is seriously like having a cabin in the woods.

This tent is AMAZING! I wouldn't use it for backpacking, but for car camping it's legit. The Sequoia is incredibly roomy, has so many pockets, and is very breathable, especially when the rain fly is off. I think that may be one of the best features-- the fine mesh is great at night to stargaze from your tent when the fly is removed. It is also great to be able to stand up straight when getting dressed! I really love how the rain fly door is essentially a "tent foyer" of sorts and can be staked out away from the tent itself and leaves a nice little space for shoes. I am able to place my dog's crate there when we go camping-- he's protected and cozy as well. He can still be with us and feel like he's in the tent, but without the issue of muddy paws or fur. For reference, my dog is a 40 lb husky-pit and has a crate that is 36 in long and 24 in wide. With the crate in this tent foyer, I still have room for our boots and backpacks. The last time I was camping in this tent, it rained pretty heavily. I was worried because I didn't have the footprint for it, but thanks to all of the stakeout spots on the fly, all of our belongings stayed nice and dry. Lastly, the carry/storage bag! It zips open which is fabulous and is actually roomy enough to package it with ease. No struggling or breaking a sweat just to get the thing put away. Good job, Kelty!! I am quite literally a happy camper.

The family loves this tent. So much headroom. A little more time the a smaller tent for set up, but what do you expect with a tent this size.

I have not had the oppertunity to use it yet but I did set it up for the first time. The Hula 6 I am replacing was very similar in set up but quite a bit easier for one person. I had difficulty installing the two side bars into the fly. Being overhead and under a fair amount of tension they required opening the velcrow pocket on one end-at least for me. The velcrow flap is too short (only about 1/2" long) overhead, and really hard for an old guy like me. Am I going about it wrong? Other than that I am very happy with the tent.

I can get this up quickly by myself and it has withstood some severe winds and rains and no problems at all. Lots of room inside with pockets for stuff including a small one shoulder height by the door so you can stick your headlamp in to illuminate the tent. Very happy with this tent.

This tent is HUGE. Definitely big enough for bunk beds or any activities you can think of. Easily sleeps 6, but super roomy with 4. It's an adjustment (a good one) to get used to the amazing clearance in this tent after having traditional 2-3 person tents for years - you can actually stand up to get dressed/undressed. We definitely still found ourselves falling into old habits laying down to change and realizing we no longer had to. The only improvement that could be made to this awesome tent is another vent or second door. Constructed very well & simple to setup. Really happy to add another Kelty to the arsenal.

My wife and I are definitely fair weather campers - we want space, we want a 18" tall air mattress, I'm 6'3" and I want to stand up in my tent and if the weather sucks, we're staying home if we have the choice. We bought this trip and its maiden voyage brought us 6 hours away from home and in a torrential downpour. We pitched the tent for the first time in the rain with no issues or difficulty and the tent stayed dry the entire weekend and did everything we wanted it to do. Three complaints: I wish the ceiling of the vestibule extended out just a little further - I feel like Kelty could have extended the brow poles just a little to create a little extra room on the vestibule...but honestly this is a minor complaint. Secondly the wind flap on the zipper for the rain fly constantly gets caught in the zipper and is frustrating to use when you are getting in or out of the tent with an armful of stuff. Lastly, the paint on the steel poles has already shaved off after one weekend and the poles look like they've seen a full season of use. They will hold up so I'm not worried about that...just surprising to see something so new look so worn. Other than that...awesome value for such a large tent from a quality manufacturer...despite my gripes, 5 stars and would purchase again and recommend to anyone.

Used it for the first time in moderate weather being low 80s in the day in 60s at night. The rain fly limits air flow substantially and in rain has to remain closed at the front door otherwise water run off will fall directly on the screen door. In winter/fall /rain this tent is probably an excellent choice otherwise the rain fly needs to be left off to get complete air flow. The vestibule should be lengthened 6+ inches so that the door can be left open in rainy weather. Also it would be nice if the vestibule door could be unzipped from both sides to create an open awining in front of the door. The tent was set up on a gravel USFS tent pad without an underlayment and there were a few small holes found in the floor after a 4 day trip. The guy lines worked great, the build quality appears good just consider the season and retain you will be setting up on.

My girlfriend and I upgraded from another brand's 6 person dome style tent, thinking that we wanted more room to stand in. We are avid car campers in Colorado and can afford the space to put a queen size cot, Kelty Low-Love Seat and our dog. The change to the Sequoia 6 was everything we ever wanted. The footprint size allows us to fit everything we need and the design to include the entire length of the tent as full height standing room, rather than just one point in the center, makes all the difference. I would highly recommend for a group of 4 or 2 people who like to camp with space to move around. We tested this tent over a long weekend in which we endured rain, a sand storm and hail (Colorado) and it held up great! Unfortunately during that windy storm, I had placed my motorcycle under the vestibule and it had blown over, creating a puncture in the fly (my fault!) so we will have to patch or buy a replacement. Overall great work Kelty!

i couldn’t be happier with this tent ! The tent poles are solid and when the kids want to help set up the tent it’s nice knowing that are very durable. The zippers have are really smooth and don’t get hung up when everyone is going in and out all day. The height of the tent and the vent on the back makes it very comfortable living . I feel like this tent will be around for a long time and would highly recommend this tent.

I love this tent. I bought it for my family, and we recently used it in Mount Timpanogos. I had researched the living daylights out of family tents and read handfuls of reviews from prominent editors for outdoor gear and compared this one to all of its competitors. I ultimately landed on purchasing this tent for the following reasons: - First, it’s a Kelty. This is probably the tenth Kelty tent I’ve owned, and the company is renowned for its durable products. I have a Kelty tent that is 25 years old, and it’s still a great tent today. My personal experience with Kelty is that they back up their gear with the best warranty in the entire outdoor business. - Second, it has STEEL poles! This was one of the biggest selling points for me, because it pretty much eliminates the chance that my poles will become wrinkled or bent from fierce winds, crazy kids, and just bein negligent. - Third, it’s HUGE! This is the biggest 6-person tent in the industry right now. There’s another well-known company that offers a very similar product, but the Sequioa is taller and has more square feet. The video tutorial for the Sequoia Kelty made is very helpful for knowing how to put it together. It probably took me about fifteen minutes to put it together by myself and maybe just as long to take it down. So I recommend reviewing that before putting it together. The tent is very comfortable to sleep in. It is well ventilated and gives all the coverage needed to protect its tenants from wind and rain. The storage case for the tent is very big, and it seems to resemble something of a big duffle bag with a zipper that goes right down the center. This makes taking it out and putting it away much easier than rolling it up and putting it into one of those sleeping bag sacks. One thing of note is that the tent comes with steel stakes. They’re probably 8-10 inches long. I purchased Kelty’s 12-inch steel stakes, because I didn’t know what kind of stakes it came with. On that note, the steel stakes is an area where Kelty really wins in this regard, because not only do they give you very durable stakes for a tent this size, but they also give you enough stakes for every place to stake this thing down — including all of its guy-out points! One thing I wish this tent had was a gear loft that either cam with it or was offered for sale through Kelty. The gear loft loops are so far spread apart that I can’t see how the small orange gear loft Kelty sells could stretch out far enough to fit in this thing. But it does come with plenty of side pockets, which I found was sufficient when using this with my family. I definitely recommend purchasing the footprint with this tent, by the way. That leads me to one more thing that I wish this tent had, which is a more durable floor. The competitors have at least a 150D floor for their 6 person tents, and some other ones have an even more durable floor. The steel poles are wonderful for this thing, but I also worry a little that the poles are drastically more durable than the fabric of this tent, which may create an uneven balance. But, my experience with Kelty is that they seem to know what they are doing when engineering a tent, so I’m trusting their judgment on this one. Also, my experience has been that Kelty would repair the tent if I had any problems with it, which is the greatest peace of mind I have in spending so much on a tent like this. The competitors will either warranty their tents for one year or charge a large amount for repairs, but Kelty recently repaired my 25-year-old tent and my only expense in that was paying the cost to ship it to them. If you have any doubts in purchasing this tent, then I hope this review has been helpful in making a decision. I’m an outdoor gear fanatic and obsess about the engineering of tents and backpacks, and I highly recommend this to anyone out there.

I have been a fan of Kelty tents for years. I recently upgraded to the Sequoia 6 and am super happy with it! Putting it up is pretty easy and straight forward with two people. However, I am only 5 ft. tall, so some of the poles I had to have my boyfriend install since I couldn't quite reach :) Once it is up though, there is so much room! No more hunching over when changing clothes. It is going to be very comfortable for car camping, or even bug-free stargazing in the backyard. I am especially impressed with the mesh that this tent has-- it seems much more durable than previous tent models. All in all, the poles and tent seem to be of great quality that will last for years of wear.
