I searched dozens of backpacks and chose this as the one "least wrong" for my needs. Positives: Roomy enough, good air flow, adequate accessory pockets, good color and design. Also, the adjustments for sizing the pack to you are well thought out. Negatives: hip belt is not cut properly to ride on hips, it slides down unless overly tightened, too many loose 'hangy things" that snag, no easy way to secure mats, bags, tents to outside if desired, too many compression straps, and my biggest complaint is the top opening. What's the deal with every hiking bag having a huge gaping maw at the top that doesn't secure readily or completely? The draw string won't close the inner opening, and the funky "brain" cover requires fiddling with four to six plastic clips to open it. I much prefer to go in through the big zipped pocket on the back, where I can access my stuff without removing anything. Finally, the fabric is light and could tear with a moderate snag on a sharp branch, and you'll have to separately waterproof it or carry a waterproof cover. This Kelty model is no worse and is somewhat better than others in these areas, I just wish that someone who really used a backpack got to design a backpack. Service and delivery from Sunny Sports wasexcellent.

Has many compartments and it will be great for hiking or using it for a backpacking trip to Europe, which is what i will be using it for.

Seems like a pretty good made backpack. Everything I expected it to be.

I recently got this pack to replace my old pack (a High Sierra Appalachian 75). The old pack was, and still is, very reliable. I'm the kind of guy who likes to have backups ready for everything (and now I can lend my old pack to friends who don't have their own). I find the two to be comparable in features and layout with some small differences. I haven't had a chance to actually try out the Coyote 80 yet, but from experience and just looking at the pack, I'm certain it will meet my expectations. I got the small one, and the capacity leaves nothing to be desired. The large compartments are nicely laid out, and I like that it has enough additional space to hold miscellaneous gear without going overboard on the number of pockets. The material is solid and the comfort/fit slightly exceed the Appalachian 75. The only thing this one doesn't have that the other one does, is an integrated rain cover. If you want features and space at a low price, I would highly recommend the Coyote 80.
