Bought them a month ago, and have gotten good use in a so far fantastic early season. The yellows are a perfect all around screw.

I bought several of these a month ago and finally got to use them. They were easy to place and the crank made them super easy. The crank folds neatly out of the way when you go to clip the screw. No complaints at all.

Good ice screw. Compared to Petzl, more BD screw enter in a carytool and new they work equally. The only advantage of the Petzl is the fact that the square shape of the head of the screw need a smaller mouvement of the hand when we enter it in the ice at the beginning. Maybe BD would immitate this?

purchased a few of these new style screws to fill in some gaps in my rack. These are by far the best, super easy to place and color scheme is easy to read and you know what size your using either cleaning or leading. Way sharper than my older style screws.

Always happy to place an express screw. Easy to start and flip thumb drive into “express mode”. Time is precious when you feel the burn.

Fastest biting screws with great durability at a very slight weight penalty. Easy to resharpen as necessary with a file or a Dremel. I own a rack of 12 express. 4 stars because I want something that weighs as much as a feather, drives like it's on ball bearings, and lasts forever.

I get out quite a bit on ice. Enjoy leading in the grade 4 level. I have a combination of Petzl and BD screws. I prefer the Petzl screws. They are easier to place as they seem to grab ice better. I also prefer the large eyelet on the Petzl screw for clipping several biners at the same time. Having said that, BD screws do the job fairly well and are very durable. You won’t go wrong with them, but you may be happier with Petzl product if you have a choice.

I've used Petzl and Grivel from others but the Express is my personal choice. Recently replaced a rack and they look like new after a week of use. I also like the second clip point.

Refined to perfection. Sharp, quick, multiple points to clip into. Do not have a negative comment - I refuse to use the old stuff and am replacing all of the old gear with these express screws. They are even color coded for length - perfection.

I work as a guide so I use these screws a lot in the Winter. I prefer to buy new screws when they are dull (even a little bit dull for reasons of safety, because sharpened screws are never as good as new. So I consider them more or less disposable. That's a bit of a shame given how beautiful they are, but at the end of the day they are just a tool, even though they are the best tool in the field. It is just amazing how good they have become in the last 10 years or so. Placing them feels almost like cheating because it takes just a few seconds. I think the color code is a good idea even though I don't pay as much attention to it as I do with BD cams. The only problem I have ever detected with these screws is that the crank can get stuck and you can't open it when you need it. It has only happened a few times in all these years and it could be due to metal fatigue (they weren't frozen). Maybe one day BD will manufacture a screw with super hardened points that don't ever get dull. Would that be possible? I guess it would make them terribly expensive, but if any company ever comes up with something like that it will probably be BD.

Easy placement and durability sum it up. Everyone carries a different quiver, I'm a huge fan of stacking my rack with 13's and 16's, with a stubby or two just in case and perhaps something longer for v-threads. BD's familiar color scheme makes identifying the right size a breeze.

My AMGA guide introduced me to these while learning to ice climb in Hyalite. I lead WI4 and this is the only screw that I have. I won't be buying any other screws anytime soon and will replace my current pieces with BD when the time comes. I like the bite and ease of setting. Super smooth insertion/progress, once started. Folding handle is awesome. Rack well. I've driven these right into rocks and frozen dirt on the back side of the falls. The screws had a more difficult time biting into the ice...but that's my fault. The screws still worked and just needed some quick attention in the garage when I got back. Plenty of people have more experience, but I love the product and price. And Black Diamond.

When you are pumped, run out and your hands are so numb you cannot feel them the last thing you want is an overly complex ice screw! The BD Express Screws are simple to use, sharp and go in with no fuss. They are the best, the gold standard. They are the only screws I use!

The express screws bite quickly and go in easy. The trigger allows for fast and comfortable placing. I hanger is thin which makes racking screws on ice clippers very streamlined. My favorite part of the express screw is that it has two holes on the hangar. This makes anchoring in and building your anchor simple and efficient.

It is hard to give a review on something that doesn't really need it. If you have ever tried any other kinds of ice screws, you know that nothing compares to the express ice screw. Why would you use anything else? These are great and are a ease to place.
