Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  what do you strike it against; a rock?
DEBORAH L  No need. It is all self contained. You simply push down the lever and it strikes. I use a cotton ball as tinder. You only need one hand to light it. My friend showed me one and I loved it. Bought one for each of my kids (they are adults) and one for my brother=in=law. We are all campers and hikers.
B J L  No. It has its own flint. It is the best one i have used so far. It even worked for me when it got wet. Good luck.
CROCCIFIXIO M  Any solid object. I've done it on logs, concrete, and the bed of a truck. Just have the fire starting material where it can catch the spark (and, in some cases, be able to move the material once it has started).
THOMAS C  The 'flint' pops out of the plastic body on a spring loaded rail. You put the end of the rail hard against your fire starting material. Quickly push the housing body towards the sparker tip and this action scraps the 'flint' and generates the sparks. It does work but you have to push the sparker against something.
janet c  how do you use it?&is it water proof?
Zack W  This is not waterproof. Its used to create a spark and start a fire.
