The esbit alcohol burner uses denatured alcohol which can be found in most hardware or paint stores. Yellow colored HEAT fuel deicer is also a source found at local auto stores and gas stations. Please don't drink that type of alcohol (makes a person sick)

It uses methanol. You can use HEET from any automotive store, but be sure to use the HEET in the yellow bottles - not the red bottles. Don't try to use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol.

Camping and backpacking alcohol stoves typically are used with denatured alcohol. Should be pretty easy to find at any hardware store and some outdoor supply stores.
STEPHEN C
Denatured alcohol, Heet, or ethyl alcohol.

what is the inside diameter of the bigger pot? i also plan to use my pocket stove which uses isobutane fuel. my concern is, will the isobutane fuel canister fit inside the bigger pot? canister diameter is 110 mm (4.25), height is 100mm (4 in).
CHARLES M
The set is designed so that the windscreen stand nests inside the large pot, along with the heat tab tray and the alcohol burner. You will NOT be able to fit an isopro canister with everything else. If you are only going to use the pots with the isopro canister stove, then it should fit. The internal diameter of the large pot is 112 mm +/- 1 mm.

I am out of town for a few weeks and am not near the pot set unfortunately. If you repost this question after 2/14 and I get an E-mail about it, I'd be happy to measure it for you.

Why Did You Choose This?

Simple, durable, low maintenance, dependable stove set. Alcohol is a versatile and inexpensive fuel and this set allows me to cook and simmer so that I am not restricted to freeze-dried meals on the trail (big cost savings). I use this stove set much more frequently than my MSR WindPro stove set.
