I have tried a ton of different solutions for my car that has poor lumbar support in the driver's seat. So far this is the best solution. Just did a 458 miles drive in one day and it was still working for me at the end of that drive. That you can adjust it one handed without looking at it while driving down the road is great. If it starts to feel too soft, lean forward slightly, pop the valve and it will self inflate. If it is too hard pop the valve and lean into it slightly to let air out. I... accidentally shut the car door on it lived to tell the tale with no damage. While there might be something better out there, this so far is the best of what I have tried. (I have tried - tempurpedic lumbar support, various pillows of different sizes including travel pillows, airline style pillow, beanbag style long oval pillow, same shaped memory foam one, same shaped feather one -which was my best choice up until the thermarest...)
I bought one of the Thermarest samples from a store in 2002 after three spine surgeries. Ive used it in cars and diners for 14 years. It finally opened up along a seam. I would like an orange one if I have to get another. Harder to forget.
Elevate your comfort wherever you go with the Therm-a-rest Lumbar Pillow. Engineered with pressure mapping technology, this innovative pillow caters to your spine's needs. The center features die-cut foam, skillfully designed to alleviate pressure along your spine while maintaining firm lateral support. The sides retain density, providing the crucial support your body needs during rest.
Experience the magic of self-inflation. The Therm-a-rest Lumbar Pillow allows you to personalize your comfort level with an easy one-hand adjustment. Whether you're traveling, working, or simply relaxing at home, this pillow turns any seat into a comfortable haven.

what is the thickness ?
Henry R
It's about 2" thick fully inflated, but I don't put enough air in mine to make it that thick. I've been using mine in my car for years and really like it. I lost it once and bought a new one immediately
LAURIE W
Fully inflated it's about 2" thick and firm which can be adjusted down easily while it's in place.

Could I use this on a kayak? Will salt water ruin it if I somehow flip or fall out and it ends up in the water ?

Hi KM,
It is not recommended for kayaking.
