Sure it costs more, just buy it.

I've had every thing in my pack wet - once. Now every thing important goes into waterproof bags/sacs and the pack gets a waterproof cover. The total protection costs a few ounces - a whole lot lighter than the water your gear will pick up when you get rained on. That doesn't even take comfort into consideration. A couple of years ago I went a long backpack trip with my sons. One of them had this pack cover. It performed every bit as well as the rest of our heavier covers. This thing is tough, and so light, and packs so small. I have been jealous ever since. When I got a smaller pack, I had the excuse to get a new pack cover. Any guess what cover I bought to go with it? Ya. This one. In red - so every body behind me won't get lost. Couldn't be happier.

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
LILIAN R  Sea to Summit products have served me well thusfar--they are well designed and made.
Jc J  I chose this to keep my 52L pack dry.
BRUCE D  Very light and packs very small.
Shopper  Does anyone know whether this cover or the mountainsmith would be better? I don't know a lot about these. Thank you
Diana K  They're both good covers. I guess it would depend on the specific features you are looking for in a pack cover. Sea to Summit seems to be more adamant and focused on this cover making your gear completely waterproof.
Shopper  I just got a regular backpack and want to get a rain cover for when I go bike riding in case it rains what size do I need extra small or small? I do not know a lot about these. Thank you
Diana K  Unfortunately in order for us to tell you the proper size, you need to know the dimensions of your backpack first. You can always purchase one size, and if it does not fit you can exchange it for another. But in order to avoid that hassle, you can look up approximate dimensions of your pack and we can help you out. The XS and Small both fit a day pack and the difference between the two sizes are a few inches.
