Questions about this item:

Shopper  do you put the insect shield inside of sleeping bag,or on the outside?
KEVIN H  Generally, a sleeping bag liner is used inside the sleeping bag, i.e. to create a barrier between yourself and the sleeping bag. This might be most useful if you're using someone else's sleeping bag or a sleeping bag provided by an outfitter or tour company. For whatever reason you might use it, the point is the liner can be washed/cleaned much more easily than the sleeping bag itself -- and you know where it's been. Having said that, I'm sure there's no issue putting it over the sleeping bag if you want to protect the outside of the bag or if you think the permethrin will help with bugs. We actually used these liners in East Africa this summer. We used them by themselves as light sleeping bags to protect us both from the beds/sheets we slept on and as secondary protection against mosquitoes and other night time insects with mosquito nets being the primary barrier. The mummy feature of these liners is very good as you can pull the liner tight over your head with just a tiny hole for breathing. I would say they did the job keeping insects away, though if you have a part of your body exposed, the mosquitoes won't necessarily be deterred from biting there. We used them almost every night for two months and they held up very well. I would recommend them for pretty much any use you can think of. They're reasonably warm on cool nights and relatively breathable in warmer nights.
