Comments about Silva Tech4o Data Center II:

Instruction manual is full of innacuracies - following the directions rarekt brings desired results; some faetures=nearly impossible to properly activate ot figure out on your own without manual: in particular, calibrating the compass and setting temp to Fahrenheit. Product may well go back in favor of 2 or 3 others that together do the same things but are easier to set up and use.

Comments about Silva Tech4o Data Center II:

I removed the neck rope and hook mine to my backpack shoulder strap, the little strap it comes with that hooks it on has no less than 8 places where it can fail in the field, I used a little lanyard I had from a digital camera to give it a backup connection, remember 2 is 1 and 1 is 0...also, keep the instruction booklet handy

      Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
PEGGY B  It had many features that i was interested in using.
Maria P  We just bought & received this item. Although following instructions, we can't seem to change the temperature setting from Celsius to Fahrenheit. Any clue how to do this?
ALDEN P  The way I did it is go to altimeter, (hit SR once) then HOLD the S/S button and then either it will change the altimeter between meters and feet, or it will chage the temperature between C and F if only the altimeter reading is changing let go of S/S and push the S/S button to change the top display (where the temp reading is) until it reads the temperature, then hold the S/S button and the temperature should change, the buttons are labeled on the second page of the instruction booklet
Maria P  Alden, thank you so much! Your information/experience will go a long way to prevent frustraion and headaches! I appreciate your taking the time to clue me/us in - because honestly, with the exception of the page with the buttons on it, most of our manual is close to useless. In fact, in at least one section so far, the manual specifically refers to one one of the watches, so naturally, those instructions were wrong! Many thanks again for sharing how you solved the problem. Such info is, well, priceless. Maria P.
Shopper  Is this product water resistant?
SunnySports S  It should be water resistant to 50 meters. Stay safe and have fun out there! Neal
