Comments about Patagonia Micro Puff Hoody for Women:
I was wondering how this jacket would compare to my past year's micropuff hoody, which Patagonia no longer makes. This one is a bit more fitted so looks trimmer, has less quilting stitches on the outer fabric which were a problem (they can get caught on things and tear), and they have REALLY improved the lower sleeve and cuff design (no velcro) with this one. Love the outer fabric---it is lightweight, reasonably water resistant, not shiny or fragile, and very pleasant to the touch. The hood is cut to protect somewhat from sun, and it adjusts in a couple of directions. The insulation is polyester (not down), but has been warm enough for me, in southern New England. The fit is ideal for me, Patagonia's "regular fit." I am a pretty basic size 10 - 12 in most clothing, and the Large fits me perfectly, not sloppily roomy, but with plenty of room for layering underneath. This has become my go-to jacket for (minor) outdoor adventures as well as in-town errands and the like, with its very comfortable fabrics and design....but I can't speak for how it would be in severe mountaineering sorts of conditions.
