I have used my trusty MSR Platypus for years ~ I never leave home without it. Whether out for an early morning Summer hike or snowshoeing/backcountry skiing in the Winter, this has been an outstanding product. Thanks for a great product from a Northwest native!
Not as bulky as you think!

I purchased this bladder over a year ago and still feels new. I fill up my 3L and slide it into my deuter packs, I loved how this bladder is not long and bulky, but its rather flat for 3L. it creates usable space behind the bladder sleeve in my packs. Never a leak, also flip it upside down before placing in my pack just to be sure. The quick disconnect its awesome, and when reconnecting there is a very positive "snap". never going back to other brands.

Is that a shut-off valve I see in the pic coming with the reservoir system, or would that an extra item?
JOSHUA R
it does come with it, great product
ROB C
Yes it does have a shutoff valve.
Quick-release hose and shutoff valve make drinking and refilling easy.
Xiaokui S
All things in the picture come with the reservoir system.

would this work with hot water for a shower bag. How secure would the plastic top be for hanging from a pole etc. ?
CHRISTOPHER B
Yes the bag could be used with hot water for a shower bag, but the bite valve would need to be removed and the flow of water would be very limited.
The plastic top is very secure. I use it to hang my reservoir every time and have never had an issue other than it not being large enough to fit over some branches.
