Comments about Outdoor Research Flex-Tex Gaiters:
I just received these and thanks to a late winter storm in the Cleavland Forest, I got to try these almost immediately. After unpacking these, I tried them on both my mid and high hiking boots and they were very asdjustable. On today's hike, they kept out snow, slush and water. I did notice that the lace clip kept popping off one of these, hence the 4 star rating. My boots, and lower pants leg were all dry when the hike was over. Good stuff, great price. My hiking partners were bummed they relied only on their "waterproof" boots.

good quality for the money

About Me Avid Adventurer
I bought two pairs of these, both size large, one for me and one for my adult son. His feet are larger but my calves are larger. We just returned from a two day overnight hike in the Myakka State Park in southwest Florida. The trails and wilderness campsites are mostly sand and occasional low grasses. We wanted a gaiter to keep the trail dirt out of our low hiking shoes. These did the job well for me and I liked the fit. The top cannot be adjusted which is unusual. Most gaiters have adjustable tops. My son did not like the fit. The gaiter did stay up buy they did not fit snug around around his calves. I will keep mine. My son will either modify his or send them back. We only walked about six miles so it wasn't enough to judge them otherwise, but they appear very well made.

I use these gaiters for snowshoeing in the winter and hiking in good weather...
A useful tool

I have used these for years to keep junk out of my shoes and boots when hiking, but my primary function for them is to treat them with Permethin a bug repellant that repells and kills ticks and chinch bugs. I hike and camp in all weather and during the summer here in the south some trails have heavy tick action. Without these, i might be dead, yes, drained of all blood and lying in a thicket somewhere. I also use them to cut my grass, hold shoe laces and pant legs out of the way when extreme mountain biking and for the occasional thorn thicket scramble. These work pretty well with both shorts and long pants.
