Great mitten, high quality and versatile

Used hiking White Mountains in NH. Outer mitts over glove liners makes a nice combination for hiking. I take hands out of mitts to take photos or adjust equipment but they warm back up when I put the outer mitts back on. I have used both inner and outer mitts over glove liners in extreme cold/wind but almost too much. Also nice to have waterproof/Goretex outer mitt for when you are in mixed conditions.

Nice mitts

By

My second pair of alti mitts. Wore out/lost the first pair. Bought the fist pair when they first came out. First pair was red now these black are a good price. Very amazingly tough leather palms. Do get wet but are one of the better gloves to limit moisture. Mine was missing a gauntlet on one mitt. These are Not warm enough nor easy enough to pull hands in and out for Alaskan dog mushing. A insulated pair of beaver mitts and a glove liner is much better for that! I'd rate alti mitts warm to about -20f, not -40, and great for general hiking, skiing, camping, etc. Just made a igloo in very high winds and these kept fingers toasty.

Super warm Mitts

By

I am a snowboard instructor and it seems every year I am alway looking for a new pair of mitts that will hopefully be warmer than my last pair. I am always outside in variable conditions, add having Raynaud's and my fingers are always cold. These mitts are awesome though, my fingers are finally too warm. I liked that both the liner and outer shell can really be their own mitt. I also like the durability of the outer shell and that the liner wicks pretty well, because believe me your hands will sweat. My only gripe is the bulkiness, but honestly I'll take the bulkiness over cold fingers.

warm digits ! finally!

By

went out this weekend to test drive these badboys. started out without the liners to see how long I could take it before putting liners back in.went up above 10,000 ft , it was between 15 and 20 degrees. got close to the top before I had to put liners in. I was hiking w/poles so that's another reason I did it without liners. their to bulky it's hard to get a good grip on my poles. but boy were they warm! highly recommend these gloves!

Alti Mitts for snowboarding

By

I got these b/c my Burton gloves had worn out and while they were good, I needed to use hand warmers with them on colder days (upstate NY skiing). So far I have only used on dry days, and in temps 5-20 degrees F and plenty of wind. They are definitely warmer than the Burtons; with no hand warmers and w/o the liner mitts, these keep my hands warm. If I remove my hands from the gloves (required for any dexterity at all), my hands warm pretty quickly when re-inserted. I imagine with the liners, I would never need any other heat assistance. They do run a tad big; I usually wear large in gloves, and I feel like I could have done Medium in these, but can't say for sure. Overall, VERY pleased. They are windproof, and I will assume waterproof. Hopefully the inside fingers/palms will hold up to the inevitable abuse from snowboarding...particularly the uphill hand (my right), which often scraps along the snow during hard right hand turns.

These mittens are very warm.

By

I purchased the Alti mitts because about 8 pair of skiing gloves I previously purchased did not keep my fingers warm on very cold days: and this includes a pair of heated gloves. These mittens indeed do keep my fingers warm in very cold weather. They are somewhat too bulky for skiing, but that is a trade-off I am willing to make to have warm fingers. I also like the fact that the cuffs are long enough to never expose my wrists to the elements.
