Comments about The North Face Paramount Peak Convertible Pants for Men:

Purchased for the versatile needs of the Appalachian Trail, being durability, adaptability, longevity, and comfort - all such needs met!

Although I was only out for a week, the pants held up, being worn all during the day, everyday, except for sleeping. The zip-off is simple (a nice feature here is that the two zipper sets are color-coded so you won't get each leg mixed up) and the pants never seem to have gotten dirty, unlike their wearer.

I tried on a few other brands of hiker pants and I would say they come with a bit of bagginess. North Face's entry was slimmer, which I liked, though I ended up with a pair (small-short) that was indeed an inch or so short for what I might be used to with regular clothes. Not very noticeable though, certainly not in the middle of a grueling hike, and obviously not when you are in shorts mode (the shorts themselves being of surprisingly normal length).

    All around a good fit.

    Questions about this item:

Junther M  Could you use these pants for snowboarding?
NEIL H  Doubtful. They are not insulated.
Shopper  what is the length on the "short inseame"?
ROB H  look on the north face website, it's listed there. good luck.
Shopper  My Husband is 6'4 and about 29 waist. Pretty skinny guy. Will the long mediums fit or large long?
BRIAN H  What is his insean length? That is the important thing here. The medium fits me nicely. I am approx. 5'10" and 160 lbs. (73 kgs). My insean is 30". I would go with the Med. long because the large will be too big for his waist. But pants are tricky. Usually one must put them on to tell.
