The features on the website describe the zipper on the 'left side.' However, the packaging describes the sleeping bag as 'left hand.' Does this mean the sleeping bag is designed for a left handed person? Thanks.
Well, my understanding is that the "left side"/"right side" is referring to the position of zipper, which implies if you have a left side sleeping bag and a right side one, you can make the two into a big one that fits for two persons. So you don't need to worry about it if you are using it by yourself. Btw, I'm right handed, and I don't have any problem with it. Hope that helps.

No, The North Face makes left and right Zippers on their bags so they you can zip bags together. In the case of the liner, I don't think that there is a difference since I don't think you can really zip the liners together, but if you have a left handed zipping bag (for the purpose of zipping it to another sleeping bag) and then a right zipping liner it would be really annoying to have the zipper of the liner on the opposite side of the zipper for the sleeping bag.
Left hand zip means that when on sleeping on your back the zipper will be on your Left. This sidedness is most noticeable in mummy bags with hoods. I am right handed and prefer left zip bags. I have and use both. I use the arm opposite the zipper to operate the zipper. This North Face liner bag, does not have a hood and is intended to be used in diffent formations, so the the zipper in some formations will be on the right, and others on the left. There should not be any noted sidedness to this bag, yet if they have to fill the form in, ambidextrious, would be the best term for this bag. Another thing about zipper sidedness, if you ever want to zip two bags together, if the zippers are comparable, one left and one right mate best. Though I have know some urgent situations where two bags, with comparable zippers, of the same sidedness have been mated. This may only be legal in California, and may even be illegal in some states.
You can use your left hand to zip it up (as you are lying on your back). I don't think there is anything different in the zipper than other backs. The zipper lead will roller over the zipper to the outside (if you want to zip from the outside) or rollover to the inside so you can use your left hand to bring it up. I think this is a great liner for a thinner sleeping back (or I've even used it as my sole cover on warmer nights).
Thanks Michael. Very helpful.
Left means that the zipper is located on your left hand side while laying in the bag, and is designed for a right handed person. Enjoy it! Zack.
