Comments about The North Face Mercurial Liner Sleeping Bag - Long Size:

I have yet to try this bag on a long hike. I bought it primarily for its length which is great. I'm 6'6" tall and can pull it up over my head. Also, for it's multi-temp rating. I'm gonna use it on the FT year round and on the AT during warmer temps. As soon as I give it a heavy pounding I'll come back and re-rate it.

    Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
ROBERT S  I chose this bag for its lightweight for summer use.
(unknown) (  What is the fill material?
Jessica S  The fill is Climashield, the fill for the long size is 8oz.
Shopper  If this bag is reversibla and you can unzip it all the way down one side and all the way down the bottom to use as a blanket, what difference does it make which side the zipper is on? With the baffle side out, the zipper will be on one side. By reversing the bag and having the smooth side out the zipper will be on the other side of the bag. Is my logic correct on this?
CHRISTOPHER R  Yes, this bag unzips down one side and the bottom. The zipper disconnects and allows you to open the bag completely. However, the bag is not insulated on the bottom. So half of your blanket would be the insulated quilted side you see in the picture, and the other half would be fleece. It actually has has three levels of insulation. The item picture shows the 2nd level of insulation. you can turn it inside out when it gets colder, or turn it over (laying on the baffled half) when it gets warm. This is a great bag, but it is intended to be used as a liner and used with another bag and sleeping pad. Personally, I use this bag alone more often than not. It packs down very small (6.5"x14") and comes with a stuff sack that's lined with fleece that makes a good pillow. You're right about the zipper. On the warmest setting, the zipper is on one side, and changes when you turn it inside out.
