About The North Face Dark Star -20F Synthetic Sleeping Bag - Regular Size

The North Face Dark Star -20F Synthetic Sleeping Bag
The North Face Dark Star -20F Synthetic Sleeping Bag is built to give you a warm and comfortable sleep in nature's coldest places! It is made from 20D Pertex, which is durable and sturdy, and considerably weatherproof. With the Climashield Prism and Climashield Apex construction, it offers you maximum protection from the cold, ensured by an evenly distributed insulation, that traps the warmth within. A vaulted footbox, while allowing you to flex your feet, increases thermal efficiency, by reducing excess space. Thanks to the compression stuffsack provided, it is easily packed and stashed away when not in use. As this sack can also be used as a summit daypack, carrying the bag to the campsites is now an easy task. Sleep well without worrying about the cold in The North Face Dark Star -20F Synthetic Sleeping Bag.

Big but Beautiful

Pros

    Cons

      Best Uses

I have bought numerous sleeping bags but this is the best I have owned. It is warm enough for this old camper and most are not. The Permatex Shield outer is fantastic. Not only is it water resistant but is breathable. I threw it over like a blanket on a 50F night and did not get hot and sticky. When the rain blew under my tarp, the bag stayed dry.
It is large and the compression sack/pack did not help much as it compressed to a cube shape. I got a 35L ultra sil dry sack and it stuffs easily to 12X16X7. Lash it on with some wide straps and you will be warm and dry at night.
I chose the synthetic bag because I feel down does not always perform well. Yes it is large and weighs 4 3/4 pounds but is reliable and will last a long time. It is the most important single piece of gear I own and when the nights are cold and damp it will have been worth packing a few extra pounds.
Thanks SunnySports for a great sale price.

1- Fits into its lightweight compression sack easily. Regular size compresses to 12" X 18" easily, less if you wish.
2- Opens very wide for warm nights, just your feet stay in.
3- Roomy hood has space for my Thermarest feather pillow.
3-Very nice looking so all the wildlife will be impressed.

          Questions about this item:

Kenneth C  How has the bag been stored since manufacture? Has it been stored in the stuff sack, in a larger storage sack, or completely uncompressed?
DAN B  Mine arrived in its storage sack in a cardboard box. It was not compressed at all. The stuff sack is in the sleeping bag. I was very pleased with the way this was packaged.
