Comments about The North Face Aleutian 1S 55F Synthetic Sleeping Bag - Regular Size:

I opted to buy this bag for lighter weight while paddling and portaging in the Boundary Waters in July. The temp did not fall below 55, but it was definitely not warm enough even with a silk liner. I wish I had brought my heavier but warmer bag. I usually sleep hot so thought it would be a good option. I will use this for paddling in GA and FL, but not in northern climates.

Lot of bag for the buck

Comments about The North Face Aleutian 1S 55F Synthetic Sleeping Bag - Regular Size:

I bought this bag to save weight and space when backpacking in warmer conditions. It's more than a pound lighter than my 20 degree down bag and compresses to almost half the size. I used it in late Sept. on the A.T. at the Georgia/No. Carolina border. Temp dropped into the 40s, lower than the rating for this bag, so I wore socks, long johns and my fleece jacket. I was sleeping under a tarp, and while I wasn't "toasty", I was not uncomfortable. A nice feature of the hood is separate elastic drawstrings/cordlocks for the top of the bag and the hood itself. Although the bag doesn't have as much loft as I expected, it is well matched to its temperature rating.

went camping for 3 days with this sack the weather got a little bit chillier than expected, but it wasn't an issue. It did feel as though the condensation started to build up towards the bottom of the sack, but not too sure, it could have just been the cold sensation. would definitely recommend a mat. All in all - easy to pack, carry, and does what it needs to - would recommend
