Comments about Mountainsmith Strappette Shoulder Harness:

The strappette turned my Mountainsmith lumbar bag into a functional daypack. Before that, two filled nalgene bottles would pull the bag down and give me that gangster sag, the straps installed quickly (I had to find a video online) and it went right on.

Comments about Mountainsmith Strappette Shoulder Harness:

I really enjoy my Mountainsmith "DAY" pack, in fact I'm on my second one. When I found out about these straps I immediately went and got a set. They transform the "DAY" from an oversized fanny pack that is floppy when fully loaded with a day hikes worth of water and essentials to a very stable and compact pack that will easily handle what you need to carry on a days outing. I especially like this as a full pack on your back in the Texas heat is miserable if you don't really need to carry more than a day packs worth of gear. These straps make the DAY pack into the perfect "half pack". Material quality, fit and feel is all typical of the excellent products Mountainsmith puts out.

Comments about Mountainsmith Strappette Shoulder Harness:

This does not work well with the duffle bags. All the load shifts to the bottom and it just works better to use the straps that are on the bag. This probably will work better with the lumbar packs but the one I have is too old.

Comments about Mountainsmith Strappette Shoulder Harness:

Used the strapettes to convert my lumbar pack into a functional backpack for school and play. Helps to distribute the load even more. Biggest problem was trying to figure out how to attach the non-clip ends of the strap to my pack.

            Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
TERRY T  Because I tend to load up this pack, the Strappettes work great to equalize the load between my hips and shoulders. It also helps to keep the pack close to the back.
Shopper  I have just purchased one of the day lumbar packs. The single shoulder strap came with plastic "buckle" that snaps into the pack. Does this product have a simular buckle that would interact with the pack like the shoulder strap? I can see myself switching often between this harness and single shoulder strap often and would prefer not to have to be threading straps through buckles all the time. Thanks for your time.
LAURA T  Yes the buckles are identical and the straps are interchangeable. However, older lumbar packs by Mountainsmith do not have the buckles so not all packs can use the shoulder harness.
