I walk to work everyday and am a very cold person by nature. After trying the North Face Arctic Park, Suzanne TriClimate and the Patagonia Tres Parka, I finally found the Marmot Chelsea. It's perfect, just what I wanted. Super warm, but doesn't look giant on my petite frame. The XS ran a little large, but I wanted something that was roomy enough for sweaters, but is still pretty flattering. Not as fitted and trendy as the Suzanne, but much warmer. I highly recommend this coat. The only downsi...de is that is does shed some feathers, but I think this happens with most down coats. Also had a great experience with Sunny Sports. My order arrived in less than 24 hours.

The length of my S/P coat is 36 inches.

I'm 5'9" and 170pounds. Would the XL be roomy enough to wear a layer or 2 underneath? Also, do the arms run long? Thanks!

I unfortunately bought this coat when I was a much younger, smaller person. I'm currently 5'7" and 135 pounds, and I think I would buy the Medium at this point, in order to be able to wear it with some layers. I don't want to say whether or not you should or should not buy it, but just thought I'd give you a comparison.
Also, the arms do not run long.
Hope this helps!

Oh, the size I originally bought that is way too small was the XS.

Hi Dale, I am 152 lbs 5'6" and I own this wonderful coat in a size large. i can wear a long sleeved t-shirt with any weight sweater under it easily. And just for you I also tried the t-shirt with a medium weight zippered fleece. There is still enough room fo r the coat to zip up easily. I find that the coat is so warm I never have to where a fleece under it. I live near Chicago.

I would think so. I'm 5'5" and 130 lbs. I tried the small and the medium, and both fit, but I chose the medium, because I can comfortably wear a heavy sweater under it. The arms do not run long.

Not sure, but if it helps, I'm 5'0" and about 120, and the small fits perfectly with layers (fleece, t shirt, camisole) underneath. Fit is appropriately snug: not too tight, but not loose enough to let in cold air. The arms don't run long on me.

is the platinum white or light gray?
Bernadine M
Sorry, but I have the black coat.

I would not consider it white-- it's a very light, faint grey. Does show dirt-- especially on the wrists after time.

It's kind of in between. I would say it's a very very light gray; almost white, but definitely not pure white.
