Comments about Mammut Xera Flip 25 Pack for Women:
I just got this, but I feel compelled to write a review because there aren't many details here on the site. This pack is almost perfect, with a few shortcomings. Having loaded it up and spent some time with it on, I think it will be extremely comfortable, though. I've had trouble with both women's and men's packs of similar size causing me discomfort, but I think this pack will solve that.
It features a light suspension system that stiffens the back, and adjustment straps on the shoulders to pull the load to the proper position for your body type, which is really what I've been needing with my show torso. Most similar size packs hit me at the butt, but this pack rests where it should thanks to those straps. It's also designed to be larger on top, where more weight should be in your pack. Another great feature is the separate laptop compartment, which can also be used for a hydration bladder, with a space for the spout to come out, which I'll probably utilize when hiking. Unlike the pack it's replacing, this compartment stops slightly above the bottom of the pack, protecting your laptop from bangs if you drop your backpack (done that, dented the laptop :-( ).
Shortfalls? The two front compartments are kind of small...just room for a few basics like phone, wallet, keys, pens; the water bottle spots are also on the smaller side, and can't hold my bike lock, which I've been doing, but the paper-size slot inside might work well for that instead. I wish the straps were slightly more padded, that there was more reflective tape since I bike a lot (only on the straps, nowhere else) and that it was offered in more colors.
Overall though, I think this will be a great pack for me for school, hiking, and travel.
