Awesome

By Taylor D.

Iâ??d give it 10 stars if i could. Best base layer Iâ??ve ever worn. Recommend for temps in the 30-60 degree range.

The Kanc is a stretch of land from Lincoln to Conway New Hampshire. Named after Kancamagus or Fearless One" the once ruler of Southern NH. The Kancamagus is famous for its beautiful ride with many trailheads and pull offs to see natural sights. Minus33's Kanc" (Kancamagus) is their ruling number one selling men's bottom; this mid-weight 100% Merino Wool Bottom will cover all your fears of cold in fall and winter. Machine washable/dryable, odor resistant and with its great wicking ability will keep you warm/dry while riding the Kanc or biking one of its many trails. Minus33 carries this style in extra-large sizes for the big and tall man. So even if you're a big burly lineman or wood chopper in Maine's north woods we got you covered!

When it comes to providing comfort, nothing compares to the Minus33 merino wool Mid Weight Bottom. This mid weight bottom for men is made from a 100% 18.5 Micron Merino Wool fabric, which is washable and quick-drying. Bottom has 230 g/m2 interlock knit construction that provides superior comfort and warmth. This amazing bottom is the ultimate base layer in cold environments. It will keep you warm, dry, comfortable and provides a UPF rating of +50 even if you spend the whole day trekking or strolling the streets during winter. Plus, it provides a perfect fit that complements any body shape. Garment features flat lock seams to prevent chafing. With the Minus33 Merino Wool Mid Weight Bottom for men, you'll definitely feel the difference.

Moisture wicking Minus33 Merino Wool regulates the amount of moisture on your skin by absorbing any moisture or sweat on your body. Then, the absorbed moisture evaporates out of the fabric into the atmosphere. Minus33 Merino resists against microbes and odor, so smelly odor will not be a problem while wearing Minus33 products. Minus33 state of the art wicking ability absorbs moisture and releases it back into the air. With less moisture comes less odor. No more worrying about smelling bad while wearing Minus33 Merino Wool. Merino Wool fibers naturally reject any bacteria in moisture or sweat as it is wicked away. Minus33 Merino Wool clothing is naturally elastic, allowing it to stretch to your movements. Minus33's goal is to give you comfortable, breathable, soft, wicking layers for any trek you embark on.

All natural controlled felting, milling or fulling is a finishing treatment used on Merino Wool to achieve a number of effects including increased thickness, strength, and reduced air permeability. Merino Wool insulates against high temperatures and does not readily catch fire. If it does, it self-extinguishes. When Merino burns, it doesn't melt and stick to the skin like synthetic fabrics do. Merino Wool garments are biodegradable and return to their natural elements. Shear a merino sheep in the morning, and in the afternoon they're happily nibbling their way towards renewing next season's clip. Lightweight material for easy packing weighing in at 10.2 oz. (290 g) in size large.

Q&A

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  does it shrink with washing?
Laurie G  No, I wash on machine delicate cycle, cold water but I don't think they would shrink in warm or hot water because I dry them in the dryer, too.
ZOLTAN A N  All wool items tend to shrink a bit. This one does as well. How intensely the legging shrinks it depends of how carefully you will follow washing instructions, I guess. I would only use fine washing liquid like Perwoll and low temperature/ nearly cold hand wash program in washing machines, etc. Don’t machine dry heating! In use the size will expand again on your feet as you move. My standard XL works well on my muscular but shorter construction. The leggings are a bit long for my body structure (one size fits no one?). Slight shrinkage does not bother me. Just the opposite: a bit shorter is an advantage today. The material is of excellent quality: VERY comfortable on skin (I hated everything wool in my youth but this one is a revolutionary different stuff today). Works well up to near zero temperatures and in strong winds. I would not recommend for running if you are sweating.
STUART C  No. I've washed these base layers about 6 times so far and they have not shrunk at all.
LOUIS K  Washed warm water, hung on line to dry no shrinkage.
JOSEPH A  It won't shrink if you will follow laundry label instructions (gentle laundry, no dryer).
DAVID C  I have used it a few times and wash it carefully. So far, so good. No shrinkage to report, and I feel confident it gives a bit more insulation than a similar product in polyester. I was concerned it would itch or irritate my skin. No problem. It feels good and has performed well.
JOEL J  Have run through maybe 4 cycles only. Does not shrink that I've noticed. Recommended that you turn them inside out before washing. I have also dried these in a dryer with no ill effects. Satisfied with the product.
KURT L  I have only washed two times and no shrinking yet
JERRY T  My bottoms and tops have been washed several times and they have not shrunk. I use cold water and a wool friendly detergant. But I do put them in the dryer on low. As with any wool it would be better to let them air dry.
SHELLEY I  No, they do not shrink with washing.
PETER B  I have washed these in cold water and gentle cycle using regular detergent. I layed them out to dry instead of the dryer and have had no problem.
DAVID E  I have washed mine several times in COLD water and hang to dry. Mine have not shrunk at all. I don't know if they would shrink if washed in hot water and put in a clothes dryer???
ANDREW G  They do not, they hold their original size. I wear mine on daily basis for work and they will stretch a little while you wear them but they go right back to the original size after washing. I have tried several kinds of thermal wear and this is by far the most comfortable and best performing I have ever used. I would recommend these to anyone.
NICOLE M  after wearing a few times it will stretch out a little bit. WHen you wash them they shrink back to original size.
GERALD F  I haven't noticed shrinkage from washing this product. However, I hang this product to dry.
Jon U  Does Marino Wool tend to shrink after washing?
Laurie G  This type of wool yarn does not.
Taylor D  Not if washed propelry
MICHAEL M  After several washings using a conventional top loading washer there has been no signs of shrinkage. I have always line/air dried this wool product and cannot confirm wether these bottoms will stand up to a forced air dryer.
GERALD M  i have not noticed my tops or bottoms shrinking and they have been washed several times.
SCOTT H  Not if you follow the manufacturers laundering instructions.
KALPESH P  Hi Jon I purchased this for my trek to Annapurna Base Camp last December. I washed it before leaving - using the instructions provided. I didn't see any shrinkage. Only thing is that I wished I had bought a lighter weight rather than mid-weight as trekking was making me sweat a lot. But these are great none-the-less and I plan to use it for my upcoming Kilimanjaro trip. Good luck.
WALTER W  I have used many merino base-layer products and several brands including Minus33. I have machine washed all of them but only used air drying by rack to dry. With this method, there has been no shrinkage or change in fit.
PETER N  As long as you follow the washing instructions you will not see any significant shrinkage. I have a season of skiing in mine and plan to buy more this year.
JOHN K  Follow recommended washing instructions. You should have no problems with shrinking.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
gary p  I don't want to be cold
MYRA S  My husband used them on a BC mountain goat hunt and gave me great remarks on them. Merino wool keeps you warm and dry.
Ernest S  quality for the price plus the Merino wool
