Comments about Mountain Hardwear Hammerhead 3 Three-Person Tent:

I have moved from a hiking, "bring everything in on your back" type camper to a car camper. I know about rugged camping, I'm just not doing that now.

This tent would have been great for me in the old days as a great 2 person with gear and extra space tent. The design is ingenious and it is very spacious inside. Lots of mesh and the fly is full coverage. I love how the tent poles (DAC) lock into the extended gromets at the tent floor. everything seems very well made.

I pitched this but decided not to keep it only because I couldn't stand in it. So I didn't get to test it out -- but read the other reviewers -- they really seem to like this tent and I can see whay.

The only thing I might improve would be to beef up the floor a little, but that would add some weight, of course.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear Hammerhead 3 Three-Person Tent:

This tent is slightly more complicated than 2 poles tents to set up at first but it is actually surprisingly easy and quick once you've gotten the hang of it. The 3 pole design allows for a spacious interior and lots of headroom. The clever fly design makes it super easy to set up and pretty much adjusts perfectly on the tent by itself (which is not the case for most tents in my experience).
The main thing I was looking for with this tent is the fact that all the vents can be zipped up which allows you to completely seal the tent in case of a dust storm in the desert. Once you unzip all the vents, the generous amount of mesh surface allows for great ventilation on a warm night.
