About Mountain Hardwear BMG 105 Alpine Pack

Mountain Hardwear BMG 105 Alpine Pack
Mountain Hardwear BMG 105 Alpine Pack is a highly functional big pack that you can use to carry all your gear when you go winter backpacking. It is designed to meet the needs of professional guides. This lightweight pack is able to handle large, heavy loads comfortably. As winter gear just takes up more space, this pack can hold everything you need, and is very lightweight considering how much it holds. Its construction material is 315D SilSeal Cordura Nylon / HardWear X-Ply Dyneema / 840D HT Ballistic Nylon which gives it outstanding stability. Its removable top pocket has webbing loops on top, and rope strap underneath and removable horizontal stay behind hip belt, which provides enhanced load transfer. It's highly functional Alpine Compression Strap System with glove-friendly buckles secures overloads, effectively shrinks pack to minimal volume, and tucks away inside front panel pocket when not needed. A hydration bladder slides down into an inside pocket with a bladder clip via an outside horizontal zipper so you can exit the tube on either side of the zipper opening, hence it doesn't require a dedicated tube exit hole. The sleeping pad straps are stowable to reduce clutter when not needed as well as its roomy front pocket provides quick-access to often needed items, and durable dyneema front panel offers lash points for all kinds of mountaineering gear. Mountain Hardwear BMG 105 Alpine Pack is your newest travel buddy.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear BMG 105 Alpine Pack:

I wanted a big pack to haul all my gear when winter backpacking. Winter gear just takes up more space. This pack holds everything I need it to and is very lightweight considering how much it holds. The shoulder straps, hip belt and suspension are quite comfortable. Packs of this capacity from other makers weigh several pounds more and that feature sold me on this pack. I am quite happy with the purchase.

Comments about Mountain Hardwear BMG 105 Alpine Pack:

Compresses down well for smaller loads. Light weight for a monster pack. Did a three day cold-weather 21-mile AT hike with it and it handled a 40 lb load fine. Have yet to fill it to capacity to test with maximum weight. I saw this elsewhere listed as not being hydration compatible but that's incorrect, a hydration bladder slides down into an inside pocket with a bladder clip via an outside horizontal zipper just above the shoulder straps with a double zipper and flap so you can exit the tube on either side of the zipper opening, therefore it doesn't require a dedicated tube exit hole.

      Questions about this item:

Daniel M  How can I judge the proper size to buy for this backpack? I am 5'11, 195. Thank you
BENJAMIN C  I have a large and I am very close to the same size as you. I initially chose the large version based solely on the extra carrying capacity, but the fit is great. I've been using this pack at least weekly for about one year now with no complaints. You could probably carry your entire body weight with this backpack, not that you would want to.
