Comments about Mountain Hardwear Maximalist Jacket for Men:

Good purchase, recommended by a friend. Perfect fit, as I am 5'8" and 190lbs, with a 36" waist and 42" chest. You will need an under layer, as this is strictly a shell only. It is not warm, but it is 100% windproof and water proof. I got a little warm the other day wearing it, and had to open the vents under the arms. Then it was perfect. Zipper is really snug and I had to take my gloves off to open/close the main zipper every time. The zipper string was small too, difficult to grab as well.

Questions about this item:

Tom C  I assume this jacket is a shell and does not have insulation? Correct?
PAMELA V  Yes, it is but it breathes extremely well. You may feel the wind, but you'll never overheat (my fiance loves this jacket).
Shopper  i am 145lb and 5'6 would i need a small or a medium ? i would need to layer ofcourse
PAMELA V  I always wear a medium in everything...5' 10" 175lb, had to go up to a large for it to fit comfortably and be able to layer. Use it for winter shell snowboarding.
Shopper  Hello I’m 6’ 180 lb. I’m looking for a dedicated ski jacket with a roomy collar that I can tuck my chin into if the wind picks up or on the lift. I was looking at the Mtn Hardwear maximalist. Would a L allow room for layering or should I think about an XL?
TWAIN B  I can't directly answer your question since we are of very different sizes. I am 5'7" amd 155, so not a slim type. I bought a Med. and it fits great for ski layering. The thing abut the collar is that there is a double zipper to really open it up for neck layers...the main zipper and the shorter second zipper. Hope this helps. One more is the first jacket I have ever had that breathes so well that I never get wet from perspiration. It is a great jacket.
