I’m 6’ 180 lb. I’m looking for a dedicated ski jacket with a roomy collar that I can tuck my chin into if the wind picks up or on the lift. I was looking at the Mtn Hardwear maximalist. Would a L allow room for layering or should I think about an XL?
I can't directly answer your question since we are of very different sizes. I am 5'7" amd 155, so not a slim type. I bought a Med. and it fits great for ski layering. The thing abut the collar is that there is a double zipper to really open it up for neck layers...the main zipper and the shorter second zipper.
Hope this helps. One more thing......it is the first jacket I have ever had that breathes so well that I never get wet from perspiration. It is a great jacket.
You would be fine with a L with layering... This jacket is super stiff and super LOUD when you move. just somethings to think about.
