Great jacket

No issues with the chest size being too bulky for me as stated in another review. I actually had to go up a size from the mountain hardwear recommended sizing. I typically wear a size 40 jacket, which is in the middle of the size M (39-41) for this jacket. After receiving the M, the chest was tight with just a T shirt under it. The large fits me a touch big but this allows room for layering under it.

Put it to the test

This jacket is great! Very light but effective in all accounts! I have put it through very cold to cold conditions....about 20 degrees at the lowest so far.Highly reccomended!

Great product

My son loved his jacket I bought him for Christmas! Very lightweight yet warm! I know i won't have to worry when he's hiking.

Great jacket for a great price.

I highly recommend this jacket. It is the lighted, warmest jacket I have ever worn. Perfect for Fall and Winter outdoor activities, or just lounging around the house. Very durable rip-stop construction and easy to pack into its own pocket for transport or used as a sleeping bag pillow. This should be the last cold-weather jacket I will ever need to purchase.

Great light warm coat!

My son loves his new coat. The colour was perfect for him. Light and warm. Fabulous!

Excellent but delicate down midlayer

This jacket is quite warm considering its lightness. It is a mid-layer: in even moderate wind conditions, it must be used in combination with a wind resistant shell in order to keep you warm. The fabric is quite delicate, it tends to hitch to zippers and such, and it can tear with some ease. It packs in its own pocket and the fit is very comfortable, you hardly notice you're weraring it. The hood, on the other hand, fits somewhat loose. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who's looking for a warm and very light midlayer.

Questions & Answers Powered by TurnTo®

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Emily H  The Ghost Whisperer Down is amazing and super warm but light and not bulky.
soumya s  Will this be warm enough for a cold Chicago winter?
Gonzalo Martin B  This jacket is quite warm considering its light weight, but it is not wind resistant. With anything more than a breeze you will need an outer windproof shell in order to keep its warmth..
MARK O  Perhaps if you're just jumping between heated areas. Probably not going to be good by itself walking around in a cold freezing wind. It's really more of an ulralight layering puffy. I wear it all the time and love it, but when it drops below freezing and I'll be standing around outside I reach for a heavier puffy.
MILTON B  I have worn mine in +10 weather with just a t-shirt and was fine. With colder temps and wind I would wear it under a shell and even colder with a down vest and long sleeve shirt. If you're willing to layer properly, it will do you just fine. It is made with super light down so if it seems skimpy(thats what I thought at first), give it a try because it is real quality. Do not be afraid to use the hood as it helps significantly to warm you up.
BRUCE Y  No, this jacket has very minimal down insulation and is waist length. It's good for 45°-55°. A longer jacket with 6-10 ozs of down and wind proof fabric would be better for Chicago winters.
Warren F  If you are warm blooded and/or acctive possibly. If not you may a light fleece underneath. Great jacket either way!
garyt g  Do the sleeves have an elastic band?
MILTON B  The sleeves do have a slightly stretchable band on the inside of the sleeves. This is not to secure a tight seal to the wrists though. It is to maintain shape of the sleeve ends. The sleeve ends are small enough to prevent much air transport to the arms in any case.
Paul S  They have a stretchy lining at the sleeve but I wouldn't call them elastic, the sleeves are are tapered. The hood does have an elastic hem.
MICHAEL S  Yes, it has an elastic band on the cuffs.
JOSEPH T  Yes, the cuffs on the sleeves are elastic and there is no option to adjust the cuffs.
IAN M  yes
