About Kelty Redwing 50 Internal Pack

The Kelty Redwing 50 Internal Pack is a mid-sized daypack for traveling across country or a day on the trail. Featuring a full-access U-shaped zipper, you can get at your gear either through the top loader or the panel loader, giving you options on the trail. SO far so good

Have gone on two overnight hikes in N GA totaling 30 miles and enjoyed the pack. Comfortable. Not overly bulky. Just enough pockets and features to get 2 to 3 nights of gear in.

Straps ripped!

I had a Kelty Redwing 3100 for six months and I liked it, but it got destroyed (long story) and I had to replace it. The Redwing 50 seemed like the closest currently available replacement, but when it arrived I thought it felt flimsy. A day after I got it I took it on my first trip (I use it primarily for short trips as carry-on luggage if I'm not checking a bag, because it'll squeeze into any overhead bin, and yet it's comfortable to walk miles through airports - way better than a roller...

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
BENJAMIN K  I bought it because it's a Kelty. I have a Kelty lumbar pack i have used for 10+ years and I knew this would be the same quality. I have not been disapponted.
Shopper  Hi. I'm 175 cm and I want to know if that model could work for me?
DAVE S  It will been fine for you. I am 179cm and use it all the time as a carry on for travel. This is the best backpack I have ever had. I actually bought three of them when they were on sale so I have backups in case they ever go out of production. I have had one for almost 8 years and has not failed on me yet. It fits perfectly in overhead bins of an airplane even when it's fully loaded. I like the fact that it has lots of compartments to keep things sorted. Buy one and you won't be disappointed.
BRENDAN S  While I am taller (183 cm), I do not believe that your height should be a concern with this pack. Instead, concern yourself with what you will be doing and the amount of space needed. For myself, I originally bought the pack for a month long trip through India and Nepal. I wanted a pack that I could carry on the plane as well as buses and trains and never have to worry about leaving unattended. The pack was perfect. Currently I am using the pack for my daily bike commutes to work and it continues to hold up well while being very comfortable. With the adjustable straps, I would expect that you would have no problem getting a good fit. Again, determine the size you need for what you will be carrying and purchase your pack volume size based on that. I am sure you can find some online videos to give you a better idea of the overall size. Best wishes.
JUAN L  Yes, I am 5'10 and though the pack is large you can adjust the straps to accommodate your comfort. I've gone on many trips with mine for over 3 years with no issues.
DON W  I'm about 188 cm, and the 50 fits me well, but instead of overall height, Kelty suggests fitting by torso length. They claim the 50 fits torsos from ~40 cm to ~54 cm. In contrast, the suggest the 44 fits torsos from ~37 cm to 47 cm.
tim m  I don't see why not. It is adjustable. I'm 5'6" and it fits great. Torso size is more important than height
Shopper  I'm 175 cm. could it work for me?
WADE S  I am 182.88 cm or 72 inches and the pack works great! You won't regret spending your money on this pack! And it fits in the overhead when flying.
CASEY E  Yes. I'm 5'5" & found the bag very comfortable
HICHAM M  Yes
PAUL D  Yes. excellent pack... holds alot and well built as all Kelty packs are. ??
CHRISTOPHER J  It's perfect for you! I'm 2" taller and I carried it 10,000 miles. Best pack I've ever bought. Pretty indestructible.
ALDRIC S  Very well made pack. It will be an excellent choice for you.
