It works for photographers, too!

By Amy P.

I bought several Kelty backpacks for a trip last year to New Zealand and this Redwing 40 for women is the one I used the most. My biggest problem traveling as a photographer is to find an actual camera bag that'll double for a good, solid backpack, but most camera backpacks are designed to carry camera gear and not much else. With the Kelty, I was able to stash my gear in the lower part of the pack using "baskets" or cushions from a different photo bag and the rest of my hiking supplies close...

VERSATILE, COMFORTABLE, ADJUSTABLE and SPACIOUS

By Milayna

This pack is amazing! I’m 5’10” 175lbs (with a short torso and narrow shoulders), this pack is by far the most comfortable pack I’ve ever worn! It has an incredible amount of adjustments. No matter how full or empty my pack is, I never feel unbalanced. When going on week long backpacking trips, my boyfriend’s daughter wears this pack (as I need a bigger 60-70 liter pack)... she is 5’1” and 120 lbs, and I can adjust it perfectly for her! That’s a large range of adjustments! I have fibromyalgia...

The Kelty Redwing 40 Internal Pack for Women is a mid-sized daypack for traveling across country or a day on the trail. Featuring a full-access U-shaped zipper, you can get at your gear either through the top loader or the panel loader, giving you options on the trail. An internal padded sleeve can either hold your laptop or store your hydration system, and extra water bottle pockets on the side help you stay hydrated. A multitude of pockets give you plenty of options for storing all your gear, like dual side pockets, a top stash pocket, a front pocket with organization, a front stash pocket with closure hook, and even a key fob so you don't lose your keys. Strap on your extra gear with the hide-away daisy chain and handy ice axe or trekking pole loops, and the waist belt is removable when you don't need it. The advanced Hex Mesh back panel, shoulder straps, and waist belt are ultra comfortable, and the padded and ventilating back panel keeps your back cool and comfortable all day long. You can stabilize your load with the sternum strap and load lifter straps to fit the Kelty Redwing 40 Internal Pack for Women snuggly against your body and head out on your next adventure.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

lindsay h  What size water reservoir does the pack hold?
TAY W  120 litres
BRIAN L  It will hold about any size water bladder. We've had a 3-liter in it.
SARAH E  It will hold any standard size - I have used a 100oz/3L in mine with room to spare.
Shopper  I'm comparing the redwing 40 and 44. The only size difference seems to be that the 40 is 21' verses 22' tall, and 2500cu. in. instead of 2650, but does it look smaller (than the 44) in real life? Could the 40 handle weekend trips easily even if I'm not a light packer? Is it really THAT much smaller? Thank you so much!!!
BRIAN L  It's more for the length of your back. If you have a longer back (or prefer your hip belt riding a bit lower) then get the longer one (22").
ELIZABETH W  I'm not familiar with the 44, but I've got the 40. I use it for day hikes, carrying a first aid kit, plenty of water, snacks, a jacket, flashlight - all standard things. It could certainly hold more, but I think you would have to be a light packer for it to hold enough for a weekend.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
GARY L  Need a lightweight travel/hiking backpack for my girlfriend.
Judy R  Friend recommended
KATHERINE W  Size features color
Alyssa A  Travel friendly, affordable (best price around!), comfortable, support bar along back evenly holds and distributes weight, can accommodate a weekend's worth of items. Kelty is always recommended for serious travelers!
ELIZABETH W  I chose this one because I love blue, and because my son has the same one (he also likes blue) and it works great for him. The ergonomic design was no small detail either. The pack comfortably distributes weight on my hips, drawing it off my shoulders and spine, especially important to me because I have a rib that has been out of place since I was a child. It is very painful for me to wear most back packs.
