Does this seem big to use as amountain biking or bike commuting bag? No laptop, just basic clothes, lunch, etc. I am comparing this to a few other models with about 800 cu in capacity.
SHARON T I think it's a little big for that purpose. It's quite long, not to say it wouldn't work at all.I just think there is probably another that would be better.
Good Luck !
JAMES H I wouldnt take it on a long ride or a training ride, too big. its kind of nice for me around town. keeps a rain coat, tights, bib shorts, and helmet when Im working. works as day pack but only has two compartments.
SANDRA T Depends on how much clothes really, I bought this as a daypack to carry a windbreaker, small camera, lunch, binoculars and lunch. I think I could have bought a much smaller bag. I carry mine and 2 kids jackets, lunches and all the other stuff with extra room. This is a great, high quality pack but might be too large for your needs especially if you want your biking pack to fit really close and streamlined. Hope this helps.
LORNE R Hi Adam. I believe it is perfect for mountain bike commuting bag size. It is big enough to carry lots of stuff and not be bulky. I have other bigger sizes of Kelty's bags more for hiking and camping and this one specialty for the laptop, going to university and bike exercise. The best part is the fit. It is very curvy and kind of embraces you around the shoulders, very comfortable. Hope it help you.
Adam B Great - thank you everybody for the quick and thorough answers. Sounds worth a try for the solid sale price!
MARY O Hi Adam! I actually used this bag all summer to commute to work and I found that it was the perfect size for me. I typically packed pants/shirt/dress shoes, very small makeup case, wallet, and a couple random small items. Depending on what clothes I took, I could easily pack the bag and still have a little room left if I wanted to stick a book or two in there. I really like how light-weight it is, and the waist and chest straps are huge! I will say if you are in need of pockets, this is short on pockets. There is one small internal zipper pocket, and then the outer "flap" that the compression straps are attached to isn't really a true pocket because if you flipped your bag upside down stuff could fall out of it.
But overall, I am very happy with it! I've also used it as a carry-on to travel with and for day hikes.
Hope this helps!
JIM N I wouldn't think it is too big. Its about the same size as a regular backpack. There are straps where you can tighten down your load. I use mine as a hiking daypack and its just right.
ERIC F Its a nice size. it would work nice for that and it had the waist and chest strap to keep it tied to you.
GREG A I thought the same thing before i bought it, but it is perfect. I use it mountain biking and the compression straps work good to adjust the size to what you need. It also had an inside pocket for a hydro bag if you choose.
