I've only used this pack for a few hikes with weights ranging from 15 to 30 pounds for a total of 15 miles. It's a comfortable pack that can be adjusted for a variety of loads and weights. I appreciate the attached rain cover. The cell phone pocket on the shoulder strap is a great place for my GPS. It's an easy pack to remove when fully loaded. This pack is versatile with the number and range of adjustments.
The material in this pack makes it heavier than some but if the seams hold up this ruggedness should contribute to the longevity of this pack. I do not feel like I have to be careful with it because of the heavy duty materials.

I bought this for my boyfriend to carry the majority of our supplies while hiking and traveling (we do so year round). He thinks its comfy and it fits very well. For the price of [$] you can't beat it. it also has an enormous hydration pocket.!!!! Issues: this pack does not work well unless it is filled to capacity...and it is a huge capacity! The top part that secures over the top of the pack to hold additional items is:1. not removable and 2. not adjustable enough/too large so when the pack is not full all the way it just kind of bobbles around annoyingly. we just tuck it into the top of the pack and secure the drawstring around it, which I think is unacceptable for a good pack, but not for this price range. after looking at the pack in front of me and the pictures online....the top pocket looks about twice the size as in the pictures. Also, there are not many pockets but this is kind of made up for with all of the daisy chain holes on the sides.

Comments about High Sierra Summit 45 Backpack:

My son is using this pack and really likes it. He's used it twice with some scouts camping. He hasn't hiked very far with it yet but I think it will work well. He's about 5 ft tall and this pack fits him perfectly. It looks to be very durable and I expect that he will use it for the next few years at least.

MICHAEL R  I needed a bag bigger than my daypack(30L) and smaller than my full pack(70L) for lightweight overnight trips.
Leo A  Looking to travel with this bag and know for must airlines the bag was to be less than 22" in length to be able to carry on. Is the hard part of the bag the full 27 inches or can the soft looking part on top compress to meet those standards?
