Is this Bag better than " Eddie Bauer Luggage - 19" Rolling Upright with Laptop Sleeve (Charcoal)"
Is the Bag outer surface water proof?
I have been using the high sierra freewheel for the last 3 quarters on my campus, and I just love it. Unlike the EB luggage rolling upright it is not a suit case, and you access everything with the bookbag upright. The main thing is this high sierra freewheel never falls backward or forward it is very stable with the wheels at each corner and the thick plastic guard under the bag.
The high sierra had all the compartments you could think of plus some. the front lower compartment have a very roomy area for small note pads, lots of pens and pencils, and a few extra dividers for more stuff. The next compartments has a small compartment on the top back I use for my phone or ipod, and a deep compartment extending down to the bottom behind the front lowest compartment.....endless uses for this space.
The main compartment has a padded space for a laptop ( I have three sizes; 10", 14", 17") all of mine fit with covers, but the 17" best without a cover. Behind this laptop compartment is a nice roomy area I can put at least 2 huge accounting books with notebooks, and room for my sweatshirt on top of the books.
The zipped compartment on the side is very useful since I can open the zipper, and put a 24oz drinking bottle there, and never worry about it falling out.
The next feature is the backpack straps with are strong, since had this back loaded down for a long day on campus and could not rolll out of a big lecture hall. It was actually comfortable enough to use as a backpack loaded down. The straps tuck away in an area for them behind the bookbag.
Finally the handle has two adjustments a low and high. I use the highest. The highest adjustment is great when you walking.....you never hit the bag with your heel like some bads that roll.
I will be taking this back with me on a trip soon with all the areas to organize thing and lots of room inside (the pack has a lot more room then it appears).
Hope this helps.
No, the outer surface is not waterproof. I'm not familiar with the eddie bauer bag. Our bag did hold up to being drug around school by a 12 year old for a school year, with only a small hole in one corner.
for the most part yes, my daughter has wheeled it to and from school thru just about any weather! It has held up really great and is going to be used for another school year coming up. It's a very well designed bag that can take a beating with bigger all terrain wheels and a sturdy body. The handle is the only part that could get broken ours has not but my daughter treats it gently and not roughly but I could see it breaking for someone who handles it roughly. All in all a great bag especiall for kids who are lugging around heavy books!~!
