Comments about Eureka Grand Manan 9 Tent:

Our first night in the new tent was stormy. The area just had inline wind damage two days earlier. We thought we were in for an eye opener and we were. Our tent stood fast and had no leaks. Thanks Eureka..

Comments about Eureka Grand Manan 9 Tent:

I had a Eureka two pole 7' x 7' tent for about 15 years. It was the best tent I have ever owned. I could put it up in about 3 minutes with the fly and take it down and stuff it in the sack in about 2 minutes.

I bought this Eureka because my wife needed more room for us and junior. It thought it would be about the same, just bigger. It is a bit more challenging, especially the fly. The fly also requires two poles and is difficult to assemple on your own. Once set up, it is probably tornado-proof. The fly also has a number of assembly options, which may be useful at some point. The tent still stuffs in the sack, but it takes about twice as long. I also don't like how Eureka changed their poles from the smooth sided aluminum to the fiberglass poles with the larger sections at the joints. It makes it a little more difficult to run them through the tent sleeves. They are much heavier though and strength is probably the reason for this.

Bottom line: nice tent, lots of room with the straight sides, fly a little cumbersome but will definitely protect you.

Comments about Eureka Grand Manan 9 Tent:

This tent was a Christmas present 2 years ago from Santa to our family. Me, my husband, and two boys ages 8 and 4 have really enjoyed this tent. My husband even used it last December in NC during a new snow and with a camp heater it worked like a champ. It is cramped though with two cots and a queen blow up mattress which is why we are looking to upgrade, but it all fits wall to wall. Just a little cramped. The rain fly definitely keeps out the moisture and the tent is well venitlated during the warmer months to provide great circulation. We used our own tarp as a footprint. Never had trouble with water.

Comments about Eureka Grand Manan 9 Tent:

Let me start by justifying my listed "cons". HEAVY: well, it's 21 lbs. 7 oz. - what do you expect? DIFFICULT TO SETUP: I did it by myself - so, yeah, it was a little difficult. Since I was car camping for this test, the weight wasn't an issue. And, I'm certain that if I had someone there to help me set it up, it would've been no problem at all. I got it for car camping with 2 or more people anyway. So, please understand, the "cons" are ONLY due to me going at it solo.

The weekend after I got this tent I just HAD to try it out. Now, this is a 3-season tent. But, I tested it in 25 to 35 degree F conditions with heavy wind, rain, sleet and snow. Granted, I had a mummy bag rated for 20F, and I could see my breath in the tent the entire night. But, I seriously doubt Eureka intended for it to be used during winter - hence, it being classified as a 3-season tent.

WATERPROOF: Absolutely. Not a drop got in. WINDPROOF: The fly is like a drum - nice and tight. There was hardly any flexing in the material at all and I couldn't feel any sort of draft through the material, no matter how hard the wind blew. FLY WORKS WELL: It's waterproof and windproof. What more do you want? STURDY: The poles are FAT - 12.7mm fiberglass. The materials can be drawn tight. And, there are plently of stake-down and guy-out points. Oh, yeah, it's sturdy. COMFORTABLE: It seriously has room to 5 fairly easily - 4 would be no problem at all. I mean, you can fit 2 full-size air mattresses in this thing and still have 2'10" x 9' of floor space for gear! And, there is plenty of ventilation in the tent itself and in the fly.

BOTTOM LINE: This is one SERIOUS car camping family tent. There are numerous configurations for the fly to open up on the sides with the vestibules and doors. The fly can even be rolled up on the sides with the windows. I could just keep going on about it. It really is just one sweet tent!

Comments about Eureka Grand Manan 9 Tent:

I bought this tent to use primarily on Boy Scout campouts as an adult leader. This is a very well engineered tent with plenty of innovative features. Plenty of room & storage pockets. Very versatile with many possible configurations of the rainfly & venting. This tent would be perfect except for the slight difficulty in threading the tent poles into the pockets. Easy to set up with two people but a little difficult for one. This would be a perfect tent if it used clips instead of sleeves for the poles. I understand this is a better tent with the sleeves but clips would allow for much faster & easier set up with one person. Not a deal killer. I highly recommend this tent.
