Great Multi-Purpose Hiking Pants

By PAUL J.

These are light weight, very comfortable, and well-fitting I don't think they would qualify as "heavy duty" but they are sort of warm weather hiking pants and that's exactly what I wanted and expected.

Great for travel

By John R.

I purchased these to travel, lightweight, dry quickly and look and fit great.

Questions & Answers

Questions about this item:

Shopper  Are these pants bug repellent?
VERN W  I have no idea, BUT they are comfortable, quick drying and excellent summer wear
RONALD D  Not from the factory but I've sprayed mine for the jungle and that worked fine.
MARTIN S  No
Albert F  Is the waist size of Columbia silver ridge pant true to its spec, or as one review suggested being one size too small, or as the other review indicated being one size too large? I would like to order several of these pants (32 waist size and 32 insem) but now can't decide whether to order one size larger or smaller, or order exactly 32/32.
Francis R  They are sized small. A hiking pant should be sized generously around the lower torso and these are not. The waist is also a little small. If between sizes, go up.
THOMAS E G  I'm 32/32 and have muscular legs. Length perfect, waist was a bit tight but the legs were very tight. If your a downhill skier like me, and like legroom then order one size larger.
Albert F  Thanks!
Albert F  Thaanks!
CLIFFORD M  I have four of these. When you first get them they're kinda roomy but after I washed mine it felt like a tailored fit. So I'd say after you wash and dry them they're true to spec. GREAT PANTS FOR HOT WEATHER THOUGH. If I could buy more i would. I'm currently in a Muslim country that gets over 110 degrees in the summer with 100% humidity, and to respect customs have to wear pants and long sleeve shirts during Ramadan. These are my go to pants everyday during that time.
WILLIAM P  No problem with the waist size--nice and comfortable, even roomy. My problem was the length. I always wear 34 inseam but this 34 Was too long and I had my tailor take them up 2 inches. After that, the pants were very comfortable when hiking.
GARY K  I have purchased several pairs of these pants, and have found the waist to be slightly large. However, I am somewhat in-between two sizes, therefore I wasn't surprised by this. In my case I had my tailor take them in by slightly more than 1/2 an inch, and they now fit perfect. If you are exactly 32" in the waist, that's what I would order.
Albert F  Thanks, George.
GEORGE F  I wear a 30 waist and 30 inseam and I bought 30 waist and 30 inseam. I ordered these pants back in April 29, 2013. These pants fits perfectly fine. I am slim build and find the in seam to be a little baggier than what I'd like, its probably due to the fact that the pants are thinner than jeans material. I kept it anyway and if I had a choice, I'd probably should have gone with the zip-offs version instead since I take these pants on hiking in Hawaii and it gets rather hot, so I actually have to pair these pants with fast wicking boxer briefs. I am 5'6" and 120 pounds for your FYI. Hope this helps you.
Albert F  Thanks.
Albert F  Thanks.
JAKE T  I wear a 34 waist, and also read that they run a little small, so I ordered a 36, and that assesment seemed to hold true, as they did fit. Now, I did end up returning the pants, as they were quite baggy, and I was looking for a slimmer fit. They were also a little short. (I usually take a 34 inseam, and ordered 34). I ended up going with the Patagonia roving pants, and absolutely LOVE them. I have since ordered 4 more pair. I am 6' 3" and 195 pounds fyi. I hope this helps.
RONALD D  My usual pants size is 32/32. After reading the reviews I was confused as well so I ordered the 32 as well as the 34. The 32 was too small(which I sent back) and kept the 34 which I am happy with.
Shopper  Why Did You Choose This?
Michael F  great for desert hiking
